Top 10 Things To See And Do In Williamsburg

Williamsburg, Brooklyn- 10 BEST Things To Do (NYC Travel Guide) !

Williamsburg is known as a hotbed of ‘hipsters’. But there a lot of holdovers from the days before Williamsburg was gentrified.

You’ll find artists, bohemians, locals with Latino heritage and an enclave of Hasidic Jews on the southern border.

Below is a list of the top 10 things to do in Williamsburg. These recommendations will give you a head start when planning a visit to this cool part of NYC.

The 15 Best Fun Activities In Williamsburg Brooklyn

May : My favorite in Brooklyn. Domino’s Park goes along the water under the Williamsburg Bridge. Great skyline views perfectly picturesque during sunset and it’s conveniently right by the many shops nearby

Carleen: Keep this place a secret. Don’t tell your friends how amazing it is.

Albert Covelli: The perfect combination of cinema, cocktails and food. The only dessert you’ll need is a date. Get your tix well in advance…almost always sells out early.

Concert Ticket Agency: Dinner? Movie? or a show? Stop here first, grab some grub, watch a cool indie flick, then see a show at nearby Music Hall of Williamsburg. Beer! Pork Buns! Popcorn! oh my!

Time Out New York: Each theater has paired seats and tables where twosomes can nosh while taking in indie and retro flicks. Split the Nitehawk Queso, with melted cheese, black beans, spicy chorizo and cooling guac. Read more.

Joe Montes: The acoustics here are amazing! The venue hold only 1,800 people so its a great place to see a concert with a more intimate feel.

Harry Wolff: This is currently one of the best music venues in the five boroughs. The acoustics are terrific and the layout is roomy. Definitely go here if you can.

Oscar W¡ld: Reminiscent of Terminal 5 but with much better sound, my only complaint is the stage needs to be higher cause it’s often hard to see the performers

Watch The Sunset At Domino Park / East River State Park

After youve tasted some of Brooklyns famous beer, its time to look for a great spot to watch the sunset. Obviously, the best places are along the East River. Brooklyn Brewery is within a 5-minute walk from East River State Park. Another alternative is to walk along Kent Street until you reach Grand Ferry Park. However, if you dont mind the walk, we suggest walking along Kent Street all the way to Domino Park, which should take you about 20 minutes from Brooklyn Brewery.

Domino Park is one of New Yorks newest parks, and just like the High Line, the architects and landscapers made sure to pay tribute to its history. The park stretches along the East River on the site of the former Domino Sugar Refinery, a plant that helped shape the character of the neighborhood for over 160 years. Walking along the park, youll find 30 large-scale, salvaged artifacts that were used in the plant and now are incorporated into the parks landscape. Theres an elevated walkway with beautiful views of the surrounding area and Manhattans lower side. Theres also a very unique playground that was designed by Brooklyn-based artist Mark Reigelman that takes the children on a journey through the sugar refining process. Children would also love the fountains and the fog bridge, both of which are great for photography lovers as well.

How To Get To Williamsburg

Williamsburg is one of the closest Brooklyn neighborhoods to Manhattan. Getting there is pretty easy via subway, even if youre not an experienced rider. The subway system may seem intimidating at first, but theres a reason native New Yorkers use it so much. Once you know where youre going its just a short hop across the river. You can get to the Williamsburg area from Manhattan or Brooklyn via the J, L, M or Z train. From Manhattan, I recommend taking the subway to Bedford Avenue station to get right into the middle of the action. If you are coming from Manhattan, you could also bike or walk over the Williamsburg bridge if the weather isnt too hot.

When you arrive at this square, you will see a splendidly carved statue amidst lush green surroundings. Thatââ¬â¢s the statue of Father Jerzy Popieluszko. Carved out of Barre gray granite, the statue was unveiled on 21st October 1990 that marked the priestââ¬â¢s sixth death anniversary. It was built in honor of this Roman Catholic priest who ardently supported the Polish trade union federation. Earlier, Father Jerzy Popieluszko Square was a part of McCarren Park but was renamed as a tribute to him. This small but very well-maintained park features many benches and monuments in honor of the priest. It has a lovely ambiance to sit, relax, and spend quality time with your family and friends.
