Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium

The architecture of the Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium is grand.

Its a historic venue and you can feel the old bones of the building come to life against the light sun and breeze. The building is colored a soft, slightly pastel-like beige. Its detailed and intricate.

If you run your hands along the walls, the patterns fall into a tight shape.

Right out front is a pocket of flowers. At first glance, theyre a scoop of purple. But as you watch from the steps of Wichita Falls Memorial Auditorium, the lines cut and define the outline of the Lone Star State.

Explore The Museum Of North Texas History

The North Texas History Museum is fascinating. It’s aterrific site to start a trip to Wichita Falls because it’s right in the heartof the city. The information we gained about many historical buildings, locations, and events influenced the rest of our trip.

The museum, which is spread out across 14 rooms, ismaintained by friendly volunteers who are passionate about educating touristsabout the historical significance of this part of the country, and there aredynamic displays of period relics for you to appreciate.

Many locals have given interesting items or collections tothis well-kept facility. An area dedicated to cowboy boots piqued our interest,as did a large collection of cowboy hats in another place. Some of the thingshad previously been worn by rodeo celebrities or well-known locals. Otherartifacts had belonged to ordinary people. I appreciated reading the detailssupplied on some of the owners, which included both like-new and well-wornitems shown side by side. Exploring this museum is one of the best things to do inWichita Falls.
