This day of Halloween festivities brings together the Brookside District for family fun! Start out the day at 8:30 a.m. at the Brookside Lions Pancake Breakfast over at Brookside Baptist Church. At 12:00pm participate in the Pet Costume Contest, the Kids Zones and Trick-or-Treating activities. At 1:30pm there will be a Childrens Costume Contest. Dress up in your favorite costume for the BooHaHa parade at 3:00pm.
Drive By The Cave House
If youre an HGTV fan, youll want to take a drive through the historic Riverview neighborhood. Youll see a variety of beautiful homes, ranging in style from Tudor to Mediterranean to Craftsman.
Then, go to the other extreme, and drive by the Cave House. Located at 1623 Charles Page Boulevard, the home was once a chicken restaurant and, possibly, a speakeasy. It looks like it was plucked from The Flintstones and deposited in Tulsa.

Located in the lobby of Tulsas historic Philcade Building on South Boston Avenue, the Tulsa Art Deco Museum is a boutique museum with a remarkable collection from the age of Art Deco in Tulsa. The building in which the museum is located is in and of itself a masterpiece of Art Deco architecture. Pose With The Golden Driller
What stands 76-feet tall, weighs 45,000 pounds and wears a 393-DDD shoe? Tulsas Golden Driller, an iconic symbol of Oklahomas oil drilling industry. The drillers right hand rests on a replica of an oil derrick and his belt buckle is emblazoned with the city name.
After making appearances at petroleum industry expos in the 1950s, the Golden Driller was permanently anchored in 1966, adopted as a state landmark in 1979 and re-gilded in 2011. Parking for the Golden Driller is in Expo Square, off of East 21st Street.

Buck Atom On Route 66
Buck Atoms Cosmic Curios on 66 is a welcome respite from the bustle of Route 66, and is the perfect stop for travelers on the Mother Road to find their next vintage treasure!
Its big! This statue of Buck Atom is a fun activity to stop into.
Buck Atom is twenty-one feet tall. If you are in the area, take the opportunity to go and see him up close. You and the kids will have loads of fun.
If you want souvenirs, here are some great shops to visit.
Take a selfie in front of these cool, oversized vehicles. The cowboy is hardworking. He shows up on the shops signage, buttons, coffee mugs, and t-shirts throughout the shop.

Cheer On The Home Team At Oneok Field
Tulsas historic Greenwood District is also home to ONEOK Field. During soccer season, you can cheer on the citys professional team, FC Tulsa. And when baseball is in full swing, you can root for the Drillers, the citys minor league team. Concerts are held throughout the year at ONEOK Field, and you can also take a stadium tour.

Woodward Park is home to 45 acres of gardens featuring various varieties of rocks, herbs, roses, azaleas, and a Victorian style conservatory and arboretum. Where Theres Money Theres The Federal Government
When the federal government bought the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 , the land that would become Oklahoma was essentially known as wild/unsettled/no mans land to Anglo-American settlers, regardless of the fact that Indigenous Nations had been there and continued to be there. Or more generally known as Indian Territories.
The reason Oklahoma stayed a territory for so long was becausethe federal government didnt see financial gains from settling there. In fact in 1830, for continued western colonization, Congress passed the Indian Removal Act, to literally forcibly remove Indigenous Nations in the east and south from their ancestral homelands and put them where there is no/low value territories. Yanno, so white people can settle there instead and have all the resources.

Its too deep of a conversation to dive into here, but in terms of Oklahoma specifically, AND Tulsa, you have to know about the Trail of Tears. After gold was found in the deep south, the federal government wanted that land. SO THEY STOLE IT. President Andrew Jackson, who was personally an INVESTOR in land himself, was especially giddy about the Trail of Tears of 1830, in which the five large Indigenous Nations in the deep south along with about twenty-one other Nations were marched out of their homes at gunpoint to what would eventually become Oklahoma.

National Geographic named this the most important monument to visit while the African American Civil Rights Network added it to their list of designated sites. See for yourself and encounter a peaceful space dedicated to the Tulsa Race Massacre. Sculptures and plaques address a tragedy that the city is still grappling with 100 years later. Take a free guided Greenwood tour with their staff by scheduling it in advance.

Voted Americas #1 Best New Attraction of 2018 by USA Today, Tulsas Gathering Place is a unique recreational complex for all ages. Sited along the Arkansas River, the Gathering Place will eventually grow to more than 100 acres of play space. Phase 1, built with $465 million in corporate and individual donations, has climbing castles and giant herons, a boathouse with rentals and, at the summit, Swing Hill, where you can see the entire park, the river and the downtown skyline.
If quiets more your thing, there are outdoor waterfront seating areas or funky indoor lounges for reading, playing board games or napping. The Gathering Place is popular, so I recommend going at either end of the day hours are 9 a.m. 8 p.m., 7 days a week.

Friday performers include Kyle Park, Backwood County, Tuesdays Gone and Levee Town. Saturday performers are former American Idol champ Laine Hardy, the Abbie Thomas Band, Websters and Braden Jamison. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. both days. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.

Sum 41 is playing Cains Ballroom on back-to-back nights.
Simple Plan and Sum 41 are teaming for a Friday, July 29, show as part of a Blame Canada Tour. Magnolia Park also is on the bill. Because tickets sold out, a second Sum 41 show was added. The Canadian rockers will perform Thursday, July 28, with Bowling for Soup, Less Than Jake and Magnolia Park.

Celebrity Attractions has been presenting the Beatles tribute band “1964” annually since the band began touring, making Tulsa the only regular stop on the band’s itinerary. Billed as the most authentic and acclaimed Beatles tribute ever, “1964-the Tribute” recreates the look and sound of the early Beatles, when the Fab Four was still performing live. Expect an evening of note-perfect renditions of classics songs from “Love Me Do” to “Nowhere Man.” Performance is 8 p.m. Friday, July 29, at the Tulsa PAC. Tickets are $25-$50. tulsapac.com.
