Celebrate The 4th Of July In All Its Glory
Come early to snag a spot in what is by far Navy Piers biggest annual celebration. The 4thof July Aon Summer Firework sis truly a must-see spectacle that Chicago looks forward to every year.
If you cant make it, fear not. Between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Navy Pier holds a fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. every Wednesday and 10:15 p.m. every Saturday.
Insider Tip: Get there early, the Pier gets very busy for fireworks. So do the restaurants and bars, so you definitely want to make a reservation ahead of time.

What To Know About Navy Basic Training
The Navy only has one location for enlisted basic training: the Great Lakes Naval Training Center in Illinois. All new recruits will spend boot camp here, but don’t worry about doing drills in inclement weather unlike the other branches of the U.S. military, most of Navy boot camp is conducted indoors.
This means there are indoor marching and drill, the confidence course is indoors and even weapons like shotguns and pistols are fired indoors. This makes a lot of sense if you think about it: much of Navy life and duty is spent aboard a ship or in a submarine.
The Recruit Training Command processes more than 50,000 recruits through Navy boot camp per year.
But before you can take part in Navy basic training, you must pass an initial fitness assessment. Your recruiter administers this test. The initial standards are listed below.

Explore Vis Town And The Old Town Of Kut
Most of the bigger ships dock is in the main town of Vis. Walking around this small town you can find many outdoor cafes, some small bars, some markets, some family-owned restaurants, some locally grown fruit and other products, and a few amazing shops.
A bit further east from the main town is the Old Town of Kut. The old town is home to summer houses built by the nobility of Hvar. The feeling here is a bit different from that of the main town there is definitely a more quiet and local vibe with much older-looking buildings and streets with a unique Croatian charm. Walking around these streets you can find some beautiful scenes.
Spend A Sunny Afternoon At The Yards Park
On nearly six riverfront acres between 2nd and 5th streets SE, this modern park rests beautifully alongside the Anacostia River, sporting plenty of places to relax, including an elevated overlook of the river. Kids will love the 11-inch deep canal and the parks waterfall, and everyone can admire the impressive, light-adorned, ringed bridge that serves as The Yards centerpiece. The park also hosts a Friday night concert series throughout the summer.

What To Eat In Dockyard
There are several restaurants to either eat a meal or grab a snack or drink. I have to admit that even with good intentions, we often got so busy while in Bermuda on a cruise, that we have not yet eaten at any of the restaurants in Dockyard.
Some favorites that are often recommended include The Frog & Onion Pub, Bone Fish bar & Grill, the Dockyard Pastry Shop and Woodys for a Bermuda fish sandwich .
You may also want to pick up some locally made Bermuda fudge at the Bermuda Fudge Factory to eat while visiting or bring home as a souvenir. You cant miss the cute pink building nearby the cruise ships.

It took me three years to get here , but Komia is now one of my favorite towns! Situated on a big bay at the other side of the island, it is a lovely and lively little down dotted with outdoor patio restaurants and shops.
There are some little beaches to chill on, and an amazing outdoor beach club where The Yacht Week holds events on certain days of the week.

Looking for more to do? Football, lacrosse, and hockey games are a big draw, as is Commissioning Week: graduation week for Midshipmen thats packed with events like flight demonstrations by the Blue Angels.
Visitors are welcome to browse the Naval Academy at their own pace, or join a tour led by a knowledgeable volunteer. Call the Visitor Center at 410-293-8687 for hours of operation and additional information on tours.

Play At The Chicago Childrens Museum
There are so many ways to play at Chicago Childrens Museum: Climb a schooner or a life-size fire truck, dig for dino bones, race speedsters down a test track, hide in a treehouse, construct a skyscraper, tinker with real tools, fish in a river, make art you can take home and so much more.
Located within Navy Pier, the Chicago Childrens Museum is more than a museum: its a space where kids are invited to play and learn on their own terms. Watch A Movie Under The Stars
One of our favorite things to do during the summer is Water Flicks, the free outdoor movie series at Navy Pier. In partnership with the Chicago International Film Festival, Navy Pier carefully curates a line up of ten films that fall under a certain theme. Last years Sing-along Summer brought some of our favorite musicals to the big screen like Pitch Perfect, Selena, and Grease.
This summers theme in 2019?
Super Hero Summer! Sounds like an explosive good time.Bring a blanket, some lawn chairs, your favorite snacks, and catch a family-friendly film. Thats if you can take your eyes off the gorgeous lakefront, tbh.

Visit Navy Pier During The Holidays
Visiting Chicago during the holiday season and attending Light Up the Lake is one of the best things to do at Navy Pier Chicago with kids.
Light Up the Lake is a holiday festival that runs from November, 26 through January 2, 2022.
