Areas & Neighborhoods In Bronx
With one of the most diverse populations of just about anywhere in the US, the Bronx boasts a rich mix of cultural influences that have given way to neighborhoods that are just as unique as the people who live here.
Belmont – Sitting in the central part of the Bronx, Belmont-known to locals as the “Real Little Italy”-is far more authentic than its sister Little Italy in Lower Manhattan. Following a wave of Italian immigration at the turn of the 20th century, Belmont welcomed an influx of traditional restaurants, bakeries, markets, and delis. Today, the commercial strip of Arthur Avenue continues to be a slice of the old country, with locals shopping for meat and cheese, sipping on cappuccino, and tucking into plates of hand-rolled pasta. Though newer residents from Puerto Rico and Albania have added to the mix of businesses, the neighborhood is still made up mostly of time-honored establishments that fly the Italian flag. Just to the east of the district in Bronx Park, the world-renowned Bronx Zoo covers 265 acres with thousands of animals, educational programs, and interactive experiences.

Weekend-longHudson YardsAmsterdam-based, multidisciplinary artists DRIFT arrive in NYC this week with their signature multi-sensory installations at The Shed. Their exhibit, Fragile Future, features a soundtrack from ANOHNI and tackles the theme of alternative solutions for a positive future. Classic Harbor Line’s Holiday Cruises
When: Select dates in November and December
Hop on board an elegant 1920s-style yacht sparkling with holiday decor and take in one of the specially themed cruises that pop up just for the season. Each party on the cruise has access to a private table and designated deck viewing zone. Expansive windows and large skylights provide 360-degree views of Manhattan throughout the excursion.

Nyc Golfing In The Bronx Brooklyn Queens Manhattan & Staten Island
The Bronx has four public golf courses: Mosholu, Van Cortlandt Park are accessible via the MTA / subway. And Pelham Bay Park and Trump golf links are accessible via subway and a brief bus ride. The Trump Golf Links are an NYC golf course owned by the city, for which Mayor Bloomberg had cut a licensing deal with Donald Trump in 2012 to rename and manage it. Since the Capitol Riot / Insurrection, the City has decided to terminate that deal and rename the golf course, but Trump is suing to keep the contract.

Manhattan doesn’t have any golf courses per se, but there is a driving range at 62 Chelsea Piers at 22nd Street and the West Side Highway. There are also three simulated golfing centers in Manhattan that operate under the Five Iron Golf name at 22 Stone Street in the Financial District, at 138 5th Avenue in the Flatiron District and in the Continental on the third floor at 883 6th Avenue near Macy’s and Madison Square Garden.
Brooklyn has a couple of golf courses including Dyker Beach golf course which is accessible via subway and Marine Park golf course which is accessible via subway and bus.

Bank Of America Winter Village

The Bank of America Winter Village is so popular that it takes up residence in Bryant Park before Halloween. Here, you’ll find the only free ice skating rink in the city. Spanning 17,000 square feet, this rink offers ample room for festive visitors to twirl and glide. You can rent skates on-site if you don’t have a pair of your own. Though the rest of the village closes up at the beginning of January, the skating rink will remain open until March 6, 2022.
Beside the rink, you’ll find The Lodge by Prime Video. Here you can grab a cocktail and enjoy a bite to eat as you warm up after your skating adventure. The Lodge offers a great view of the rink, so this is also a great option if you need a break but the kids still want to skate.
The Winter Village also features over 100 holiday vendors. Artisans from around the world set up shop in the unique greenhouse-like “jewel box” kiosks of the open-air market, making it the perfect place to get started on your holiday shopping.

Flatbed Follies Cirkus & Silent Movies
The Park Slope 5th Avenue BID is hosting a show on Saturday, October 2nd, from 6-10pm on Fifth Avenue with the acclaimed Bindlestiff Family Cirkus in Flatbed Follies, featuring variety and circus acts performing atop a flatbed truck/stage parked in front of Walgreen’s, to be followed by silent comedy short movies with live piano accompaniment. Seating will be limited locals can bring their own chairs or blankets.
Pick Your Festival: Cider Bagels Or Food
Fall is here, which can often mean the closing of some of our favorite outdoor spotsbut luckily, Governors Island is no longer one of them. New Name Same High Jinks
The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater may no longer have a brick-and-mortar presence in New York, but its long-running, popular Sunday-night showcase, ASSSSCAT, has found a new home at Caveat, with a caveat: It is now RaaaatScraps.
This newly named troupe is reviving ASSSSCATs format of improvisation inspired by a celebritys anecdotes . Hosted byShannon ONeill and presented by the Squirrel Theater, the show features a rotating cast that includes two of the Squirrels board members Michael Hartney and Corin Wells and actors you may recognize from their scene-stealing TV roles, such as Zach Cherry, Connor Ratliff and Peter Grosz.
This weeks star monologuist is being kept a surprise, but you can find out at Caveat or through a livestream of the performance, recorded in multicam HD, on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Available on Eventbrite, tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at the door and $8 for access to the stream. Bronx Zoo Bronx New York
Known worldwide, the Bronx Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world and the biggest metropolitan zoo in the States. Covering 250 acres of Bronx Park, the Bronx Zoo opened in 1899 and today provides home to 4,000 animals from more than 650 species. Managed by the Wildlife Conservation Society, the zoo includes a range of naturalistic habits with the Bronx River flowing through. Dance Theater & Music In The Bronx & Nyc
Orchard Beach in Pelham Bay Park is closed, so while there isn’t any swimming, per se, on a nice day it’s still a great place to visit on bicycle or via car . And so is Pelham Bay Park and City Island.
Lehman College for the Performing Arts is located along Goulden Avenue between Bedford Park Blvd West and 197th Street in the Bedford Park neighborhood. It’s one of the Bronx top performance venues, but unfortunately on Columbus Day Weekend it’s closed.
Manhattan College, Hostos College, Bronx College and Fordham University all organize and sponsor events, but like Lehman College, they don’t do much by way of entertainment over the Columbus Day Weekend.
An example of an interesting venue is shown in the photo to your right, where visitors dine and shop along Arthur Avenue in the Little Italy neighborhood of the Bronx.
