While youre visiting Syracuse there are two unique attractions you dont want to leave the city without seeing.

The first is the Tree of 40 Fruits. This Frankenstein-like tree was created using the technique of grafting. Not only do the trees branches blossom in different colors, but the tree also produces forty different types of stone fruit!

The second site is Syracuses up-side-down traffic signal, also called the Tipperary Hill Traffic Light. Unlike every other traffic light in the U.S, one traffic light in Syracuse displays green above red. So why the strange reversal?

Well, legend has it that the local Irish wouldnt stand for British red sitting on top of Irish green. They repeatedly vandalized the light and eventually, the city council gave in and fixed the light to show green on top of the red.

Living In Syracuse Ny

Syracuse is a city that truly embraces variety. That fact is evidenced by the various types of attractions that draw visitors to the area every year. Some of the city’s most notable attractions include the award-winning Rosamond Gifford Zoo, the renowned Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology, as well as an impressive group of museums and art galleries. For fans of the outdoors, Lake Beaver and the surrounding parks and other natural attractions offer the perfect backdrop against which nature lovers can enjoy their favorite sporting or recreational activities. Shoppers will find much to be excited about, as the excellent shops, boutiques and shopping centers offer plenty of opportunities to find the perfect item.

The Community Folk Art Gallery is unique for many reasons. While it strives to present the work of African-American artists as well as other under represented ethnic groups in Central New York, it also features a striking common thread among the pieces that are on display. That theme is one of constant struggle against seemingly insurmountable odds that was no doubt the inspiration for many of the art works that are collected here. It’s a museum filled with a curious balance of drama and triumph that will prove to be great conversation-starters when you make this museum the site of your romantic date.
