Charles Widenmann, a German immigrant, started the Solano Brewing Company in 1854. The brewery rose to prominence in the late 1800s and became known for its steam beer. Charles and his brewers were capable of producing up to 6,000 barrels per year and had their own Malt House in Vallejo, located between Georgia and York Streets.

Randy Dawson and Sean Bonifacio teamed up in 2015 to create Solano Brewing Company, LLC, with the purpose of creating a local, high-quality beer with roots in the community. 4pm: Back at the visitor center, take a scenic sunset drive to Grizzly Island Wildlife Area. The windy-twisty road threads seven miles between lost marshlands and endless estuaries that flow toward the setting sun.
