Roll Through On A San Francisco Cable Car

VLOG // A Week Off Full Of Adventures. Brunch. A’s Baseball Game. Lots of Breweries // PitucaThings

Theres no more traditional way to see San Francisco than from a cable car.

A slice of SF history, these iconic vehicles offer an up-close view of some of the city by the bays most famous landmarks, including Fishermans Wharf, Chinatown, and Golden Gate Park.

First used nearly 150 years ago, cable cars were a transportation staple until the 50s, when buses and subways began to take over.

Now, theyre an old-school opportunity to experience rolling through the hills as San Franciscans once did way back yonder.

A surefire hit for history buffs and engineering enthusiasts, anyone interested in how cable cars became entwined with the citys identity should stop by the Cable Car Museum in Nob Hill!

Where To Eat In San Francisco

Brunch at Mymy

Mymy is one of thebest brunch spots in San Francisco. Brunch at Mymy is straightforward where you can order sweet dishes like a Banana Souffle Pancake topped with powdered sugar or savory dishes like Shrimp & Longanisa Cheddar Grits made with roasted brussel sprouts, Pico de Gallo, poached eggs and grilled toast.

Arriving at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Mymy was already packed with hungry patrons but service was extremely fast.

In addition to the intimate seating area inside, theres also outdoor sidewalk seating or you can grab a seat at the counter for a more casual dining experience.

I ordered Challah Bread French Toast without the crispy bacon, a side of scrambled eggs and cheese. I washed it down with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice. Sosa however ordered egg whites, peppers and bacon with a bowl of mixed fruit and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice all delicious!

Overall I enjoyed my San Francisco brunch experience and I recommend checking out Mymy next time youre in town.

What is it? The worlds most photographed bridge .

Why go? The bridge’s iconic 746-foot-tall orange towers have stood sentinel over the San Francisco Bay since 1937. Even when shrouded in fog, the bridge never fails to impress. The view is spectacular when passing over this span, with cityscapes on one side, nature on the other and a beautiful shock of blue below. Come prepared wearing extra layers Karl the Fog doesnt mess around when it comes to the Golden Gate.

Note: The Hawl Hill area is temporarily closed for a seven-month site improvement project.

What is it? A former maximum security prison in the middle of the San Francisco Bay.

Why go? Converted from a lighthouse station to a military prison in the 1870s, this formidable fortress in the middle of San Francisco Bay was home to the early 20th centurys most notorious criminals. Today youll only make it to The Rock via ferry from Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing. Once there, the self-guided audio cellhouse tour narrated by former inmates and guards will fill you in on harrowing escape attempts, prison riots and the 19-month long occupation of the site by Native Americans demanding reparation for broken treaties in 1969.

Dont miss: To get a more creepy bang for your buck, try a night tour. Plan to spend about three-hours round trip and bring a jacket to protect you from heavy year-round fog and the agonized spirits of the islands former residents.

Find Your Favorite View Of The Golden Gate

Gore and Mack Retirements: Live Members Call-in Show

Its no secret that Golden Gate is perhaps San Franciscos most iconic sight to see today. Thanks to its location and massive size, its possible to view and admire the Golden Gate Bridge from several different locations, so perhaps you might want to see it from an alternative view each day of your trip, or even make a day out of discovering your favorite view of the Golden Gate. If you go in the morning, the South Vista Point casts a beautiful hue of early mornings sunshine over the bridge and its surroundings, whereas in the afternoons itll be covered by shadows.

Fort Point also offers spectacular views of the Golden Gate reaching into the horizon the north sides Marin Headlands has several perspectives from which to view the gate through, with it being the best spot for evening photography on a clear night Fort Baker offers some of the most stunning and unique views of Golden Gate you may have seen yet the views from St. Francis Yacht Club during sunset will have your jaw dropping and my personal favorites are Golden Gate Overlook, Crissy Field, Presidios Marshall Beach, Battery Spencer and also Alcatraz, at least for the views themselves even if they dont always provide the the best photograph. If youve got the time to spare, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge is also among the top things to do in San Francisco and its another perspective of the bridge youll get to view.

For the ultimate epic view see the Golden Gate Bridge from the air on a Seaplane Tour.

Get Happy At The Walt Disney Museum

This remarkable museum walks you through the life of Walt Disney himself, the creator of the iconic brand, onto the early workings of Mickey Mouse as an animated character. The Walt Disney Museum has lots of interactive exhibits, and year-round exhibits. I wouldnt recommend it for younger kids, but adults and teens will be absorbed in reading about the inspiration behind each character and the cultural implications of them. But beware, you might feel like bingeing on Disney films after your visit, or up and driving to Disneyland itself!

Eat An Egg Custard Tart

An egg custard tart features a silky egg yolk custard in a crunchy pastry shell that is traditionally found in various Asian countries. The Golden Gate Bakery in Chinatown is know to have one of the best recipes in the city, maybe the world. If you can act actually get one, you might agree. It is well known that the shop randomly closes. In fact, a on vacation sign is in their window so often that there is a website called Is the Golden Gate Bakery Open Today? dedicated to letting the consumers know when they can and can not get their beloved tart. Even if they are open, you will most likely have a long line to contend with. This all adds to the bucket list challenge.
