How Breath Helps Reduce Stress And Anxiety
Did you know that breathing techniques can quickly help you to release stress and lower your anxiety?
Breathing techniques improve circulation and blood flow to the brain, and activate our parasympathetic nervous system, which means that our brain gets the message to relax. For example, doing the alternate breathing activates the left and right hemispheres of the brain. When balance is created between the two hemispheres, we feel less stressed and anxious, and more relaxed.
In this free workshop you will already learn a technique that you can practice daily to feel calm, centered and stress-free!

Visit: Schenectady Historical Society Museum And Library Located In The Stockade Section Of The City
Naturally, theres plenty of information about the origins of what began as a beaver and raccoon fur trading post. But in the late 1800s, Thomas Edison moved from the New York City area to Schenectady , establishing Edison General Electric and transforming the town into a maelstrom of manufacturing. Immigrants and engineers flocked here, creating a population boom.
The two-story museum is small, but packed with engaging artifacts. Pick up a magnifying glass to study old Schenectady maps a bit closer. And then climb upstairs to see the Senility Cradle a rocking crib modified in 1832 for an elderly family member with dementia.
The Historical Society also runs Ghost Tours in October and Kayaking History Tours on the Mohawk River select summer evenings. Walk into the adjoining Library and to the picture windows in the back for a beautiful view of the Mohawk River and gardens. Open Mon-Fri 9-5, Sat 10-2, $8 adults, kids free.

This is a review for things to do in Schenectady, NY:
“What a disappointment we hadn’t been there in about a little over a year. We used love it and would go every week with our membership. We go in and the first display is nothing but a bunch of little fish. Nothing like it was. They had some things closed up The worse was they had a blowup turtle and other blow up items. What a joke. Lots of fish are gone. Than we get through and come into the big room. The sandbox that was so cool you guessed it. It wasn’t working and was almost out of sand. Than more closed up displays. The tunnel had nothing compared to what it was. All in all if you want to waste $38 for 2 adults on the weekend that the place to go. Bottom line. Save your money.”

New Book Chronicles Decline Comeback Of Schenectady The Daily Gazette
William Patrick, author of a new book about Schenectady’s decline and rebirth. State Street downtown in July
SCHENECTADY The author of a new book about Schenectadys decline and comeback found many similarities with other cities that stagnated and decayed in the last decades of the 20th century: Places whose fortunes were tied to a single company or industry all suffered when the company pulled out or the industry changed course.
But few of those former company towns have an autonomous development agency created by competing interests and given its own stream of taxpayer dollars, author William B. Patrick said.
More common in these places is the corps of hundreds of concerned residents who wouldnt let their city die, and these volunteers were critical to Schenectady, Patrick said.
Their voices are a big part of his Metrofix: The Combative Comeback of a Company Town.
I knew from the start I wanted to include that volunteer spirit, Patrick said. I wanted people to experience those voices.
The book was an immersive process for Patrick, who interviewed 107 people a combined 138 times while reading a shelf full of books about urban planning to better understand what happened in Schenectady and why.
The 406-page hardcover book with a Ralph Rosenthal cover photo of one the citys most distinctive landmarks will launch at 5 p.m. Dec. 7 in a program at the GE Proctors Theatre.
