Since then, the institution has attracted hundreds of visitors every year. Holding more than 13,000 books, the library boasts extensive historical records and medical research publications.

Moreover, the library also has a unique room where you can witness preserved old letters, historic book titles, and other materials.

The most interesting part is easily the collection of anesthesiology equipment. It showcases everything from 19th Century masks and inhalers designed for ether and chloroform to modern-day anesthesiology instruments.

Besides that, the exhibit also presents a comprehensive timeline for the field. This shows important milestones like the first public demonstration of modern anesthesia conducted in 1846 by surgeon John Collins and dentists William Morton.

Although the Wood Library Museum of Anesthesiology remains open throughout the week, you will need an appointment to enter the building.

You can book an appointment beforehand or opt for a guided tour. While entry is completely free, if you want to look around on your own, you will have to pay for taking a guided tour.
