Hollerbachs Willow Tree Caf

Central Florida Zoo prepares for blast of cold weather

One of the best restaurants in Sanford is Hollerbachs Willow Tree Café. Open since 2001, it serves traditional German cuisine. While Vicky was in the Army, she was stationed in Germany for three years. Needless to say, she was excited to have a proper schnitzel again!

Hollerbachs did not disappoint. We had the Käse Schnitzel, which is schnitzel covered in Swiss cheese. The dish came with two sides so we chose French fries and Spätzle. Everything was great and very filling.

Best Things To Do In Sanford Fl

The city of Sanford, Florida, owes its label The Historic Waterfront Gateway City to its location at the St. Johns Rivers head of navigation, at the southern shore of Lake Monroe.

Moreover, the city is the seat of Seminole County in Central Florida.

Historically, Native Americans had lived in the area for millennia before the settlers established present-day Sanford.

Henry Shelton Sanford arrived in 1870 and bought 12,548 acres that would form the basis of modern-day Sanford.

Back then, Sanford believed the region would become a transportation center, so he named it The Gateway City to South Florida.

Today, Sanford attracts tourists every year through various attractions, such as walking trails, a marina, and unique shops and restaurants.

The city also hosts the Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Gardens, the Sanford Museum, and the Central Florida Soapbox Derby.

Tuffys Bottle Shop / Lounge

Oh man, we wish wed gotten to spend more time here. Tuffys is big and broken down into different areas, all of which look fun and cool. At Tuffys bottle shop, we had a glass of cider that was delicious . Then we walked around and found Suffering Bastard, a tucked away tiki bar. It looked really awesome inside, but because its small, its recommended you make reservations ahead of time.

As we continued exploring, we stumbled upon a lounge area with games and murals. Then further along we found a large beer garden area. Here we also found Swine & Sons, a sandwich shop known for its chicken sandwiches. As we walked by, everything smelled delicious. Continuing along, we rounded a corner and found Tuffys Music Box. There was a band playing and a large open space where people were dancing. Everyone kept telling us to go to Tuffys and we quickly learned why!
