Stay At A Fun Downtown Hotel
Theres nothing better when traveling during the winter than to find a fantastic hotel that is as close to as many restaurants and attractions as possible .
Here are some of our favorite family hotels in Chicago when spending 3 days in Chicago during the winter .
Susan B Anthony House
Image Credit: Visit Rochester Susan B Anthony was a national figure in the womenâs rights movement, who was arrested after attempting to vote in the 1872 presidential election. And as the name suggests this house was the home of this legendary American civil rights leader as well as the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when she was its president. She also died at this abode in 1906 following her very famous speech âFailure is Impossibleâ in Baltimore. Her home which is now a frequently visited museum has many original artifacts on display. The house and the museum shop next door are both steeped in the lifestyle and history of the 1800âs. I think a visit for families to Susan B Anthony House is a fantastic opportunity to teach children about womens rights and that significant change really does start with just one individual thats willing to stand up against the norm. The Susan B Anthony house is located at 17 Madison St and is open Tuesdays-Sundays 11 am- 5 pm. Entry is $15 USD per adult and $5 USD per child.

Home Of Susan B Anthony
Me posing on the steps of Susan B Anthonys home. I wouldnt be able to do most of the things I do if it werent for Ms. Anthony.
While in Rochester you can visit Susan B Anthonys home, which is also the former headquarters of the National American Womans Suffrage Association. The home has been restored to how it looked while Ms. Anthony lived there. We opted to take a tour, and I learned a lot about Susan B Anthony, even though I thought I already knew a lot about the history of womens suffrage in the United States.
While youre in the neighborhood, you can also pop by Mount Hope Cemetery and pay your respects at Susan B Anthonys burial site. During elections, many local women stop by to cover her grave with their I Voted stickers.
