Five Things To Do In Prospect Park Brooklyn

Summer is in full swing and we couldnt be happier. This year on our summer agenda is exploring our neighborhood and NYC inside out. We often jet-set to experience new landscapes and culture. But this summer, we have dedicated to doing the opposite and our first stop is our neighborhood park Prospect Park.If you are staying local this summer and looking for things to do in Brooklyn whether you live here or you are planning on visiting. We have compiled a list of our favorites, just for you.

  • Picnic and Barbeque according the parks site, Prospect Park has been one of the Citys premier destinations for picnicking. Visit this map to find out their designated areas. I typically bring a blanket, prepared food, bubbles, reading/color books for the kids and a full charge phone for pics.
  • Boating + Kayaking this is the perfect season for pedal boating or kayaking at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside. While this activity is not free, I think its worth doing this the kiddies especially on a weekday while the sun is setting.
  • Roller Skating this is not free, sorry to report. But, its $12.50 to rent the skate and you get to skate unlimited during hours of operation. I always have the kids bring a pair of socks. Since the water pad is adjacent to the skating rink I bring towels, their swimwear, bubbles and Babo Botanical Sunscreen, just in-case.
