Bishop’s Bog Preserve Trail
Bishop’s Bog Preserve Trail is a scenic 1.2-mile trail stretching throughout beautiful Bishop’s Bog, a 152-acre holdover natural wonder from the region’s terrain during the last Ice Age. The point-to-point trail is located within the beautiful Portage South-Central Greenway, which links five park systems together with six miles of trail and provides nearly 500 acres of outdoor recreational land for Portage area residents. Unique plants extremely rare to the Michigan region are showcased throughout the bog, many of which are too climactically cool to grow elsewhere in the state’s terrain. Visitors can view tamarack trees, sphagnum moss, and blueberry bushes on display throughout the trail’s route, which also offers day-use picnic sites and public restrooms along the way. Nearby, West Lake Nature Preserve, South Westnedge Park, and Schrier Park link directly to the park’s trail system.

Things To Do In Portage County This Summer
Hi, there! My name is Kelly Kositzke. I am a new blogger and University Communications and Marketing student assistant.
You may have seen me on my first day on the job running around hectically at commencement in May. You will also find me at upcoming university and community events, including a Wisconsin Woodchucks baseball game, downtown Stevens Point Fourth of July parade and convocation in the fall. These are just a few events I assist the universitys event planner with to ensure everything is seamless.
When I am not working, Im a full time student pursuing a business administration major with a concentration in marketing. I was raised just outside of Madison, Wisconsin in a town of 2,000 people called Deerfield. Prior to growing up in Deerfield, I was born in Omsk, Russia. Since leaving Russia I have not left America again until I had the opportunity to live in Liverpool, United Kingdom in the fall of 2017 while studying abroad. I enjoy traveling, trying new food, laughing and spending time with those who matter most.
This is my first summer in Stevens Point and I anticipate fun! Writing this post has already prompted my attendance at some really fun events, and I also ate at some neat places. I learned a lot writing this post as a newbie and I hope you can, too. If you are staying in Stevens Point for the summer, for classes or working, dont forget to have some fun!
Here are eight things I know Ill be doing this summer in Portage County

Docent Judith Eulberg is so knowlegable and enthusiastic, helping us connect with our own family’s connection to old time Portage.
