Enjoy The Water Sports In Paros Greece

I mentioned earlier that Chrissi Akti beach is ideal for watersports. In fact, Paros is a good destination for anyone who likes beach activities.

Here are some of the water sports you can enjoy in Paros:

  • Windsurfing
  • Paddle-boarding
  • Fishing

In addition, there are several schools where you can learn sailing basics, or refresh your swimming skills.

Children and many adults will love Paros Aqua Park, where you can have fun on the water slides. Note: the park will remain closed for 2022.

Explore The Fishing Village Of Naousa

Located in the North of the island about 20 minutes drive from Parikia, this lively fishing village is where we prefer to stay. Its a little quieter than Parikia during the day but really comes alive at night when it can be quite the party town.

Its still a fishing village at heart and much of the nightlife revolves around the small compact harbour. This area is the most expensive, but its also possible to get a cheap and cheerful meal in one of the many winding back streets.

All of these villages have beautiful views, numerous little restaurants, bars, and some great little shops.

How Long Should You Spend On Paros

Forever? If only.

Honestly, we could spend our whole summer on Paros and still not be satisfied… but we think spending five nights on Paros is ideal.

Five nights might sound like a lot to those wanting to Island hop throughout the summer, but Paros was hands down the best island we visited in the Cyclades, and there are just so many things to do on Paros that make it impossible to see and enjoy in just a few days.

Its also cheaper than many other popular islands such as Santorini or Mykonos, so spending more time here will stretch your holiday dollars further.

Visit The Town Of Lefkes

A small medieval town nestled in the mountains behind Naousa with views over neighbouring Naxos. Lefkas has all the makings of the Cyclades white houses, blue doors, and dripping in vibrant pink Bougainvillea. A trip here is one of the best things to do in Paros.

Its a lovely town to visit for a day and you can find some excellent handmade local pottery, jewelry, and other crafts, as well as things such as honey and figs sold by the road.

Some people love to stay here every year and its possible to find some very inexpensive rooms on Airbnb, Booking.com, or just by wandering through the village.

When To Visit Paros

Like most of the Greek Islands the months between April and November are when Paros is at its best and when the season is underway with all the shops, tavernas, hotels and activities open for business. July and August are peak season and it can get crowded in parts as well as more expensive but it can also be a lot of fun.

There are over 6000 people that live on the island and there are schools, businesses and services that operate year round for the local community in particular. We think the very best time to visit Paros is June when the water is warming up, the prices are reasonable and everyone is getting geared up for the high season.

Soak Up The Vibe In Naousa

Beautiful Naousa / Best Things to do in Paros Island

Naousa is easily the poshest town on the island, and visiting is one of the best things to do in Paros. We visited Naousa three separate times on our trip to Paros. Once during the day, once for sunset, and once for dinner, and each experience was exceptional and different.

Located on the northeast side of the island, Naousa is a unique fishing village thats colorful and fun to visit at all times. There are tons of seaside restaurants, bars to have a sundowner at, boutique shops, and pretty much everything you could want.

Strolling Naousa / Best Things to do in Paros Island

Its exciting to walk around during the day, and at night the area quickly transforms into the high-end village on the island. Its the most desirable place to stay in Paros and the most expensive. That being said, we had still had a fantastic time not staying in Naousa and traveling in for a few special meals.

Day Trip To Other Greek Islands

15 Best Things to Do in Paros (Greece)

It is possible to take day trips from Paros to a few nearby islands.

For 2022, day trips from Paros to Mykonos are entirely possible. Ferry itineraries are convenient, and they allow up to about 12 hours in Mykonos.

This is enough to get an idea of the Chora, and even take a trip to Ancient Delos.

Going to Naxos is also straightforward. There are numerous daily ferries from Paros ferry port to Naxos town port. As an indication, it’s only a 45-minute trip on the Blue Star Ferries.

A day trip to Naxos would allow you to check out Chora, the Portara, and maybe a couple of the beaches. With that said, it’s best to allow several days for Naxos, as there’s lots to see and do.

On the other hand, a day trip to Santorini isn’t possible on day ferries for 2022, as timings are not convenient.

Hop On A Boat For A Day Trip To Mykonos And Delos

What a wonderful way to explore some of the islands aboard a boat skimming through the crystal clear waters of the Aegean. The islands of Delos and Mykonos are very different from Paros and well worth exploring. Delos is a sacred island, that was dedicated to Apollo, god of light and music. You will be able to see the ruins of the temple of Apollo and the islands famous lion statues there.

In complete contrast, Mykonos is one of the most famous islands, with its pretty main town with winding streets and restaurants and its famous row of windmills. There is plenty to see and do during your time on the island, or you can simply head for a beach there are some really lovely relaxing ones.

Spend The Day At Kolymbithres Beach

Just across the bay from Naoussa, accessible by road or boat, is perhaps Paros most iconic beach. Kolymbithres is a series of sandy coves but the area is best known for its smooth granite rock formations. Sculpted into incredible shapes by the wind and sea, they wouldnt look out of place in a modern art gallery. But even they cant keep your attention for long once you set eyes on the crystal-clear, shallow water. There are several tavernas and beach bars near Kalymbithres. And completing the scene is the magical view of the island of Agia Kali, just opposite.

Go Swim At Kolymbithres Beach

The island of Paros most famous beach, Kolymbithres is famous for its unique moon-like rock formations. The name Kolymbithres means pools and describes the way the beach is broken up into smaller swimming areas by the protruding rocks.

The unusual granite formations have been eroded by the wind and sea over the centuries to create smooth and otherworldly shapes that are a must-see on a visit to Paros.

The beach is one of the most popular on the island and is roughly divided into two smaller beaches, each with bars and hirable loungers. There are also more secluded coves to explore should you get there early enough to beat the crowds.

The sheltered location of the beach means that the sea is very calm and perfect for families with younger children as well as those looking for serene waters in which to take a dip.

The beach is just a short hop from the popular resort of Naoussa and is a great place to try out any number of water activities including kayaking, paddle boarding and snorkeling.

Try Local Paros Island Wine

So whats the best thing to have with your food in Paros Greece? How about a nice cold glass of wine! While not exactly known for its wine production like Santorini, Paros has its own local vineyards to experience.

Y At The Best Beach Clubs

Looking for the hottest nightlife on Paros? Youll find plenty of clubs, bars and beach bars to dance away the night in here.

Punda Coast or Pounda Beach is on the east of the island and is one of the most popular and bustling spots. It shouldnt be missed on a tour of Paros best bars.

Between the larger towns of Parikia and Naoussa, there is an abundance of great places to enjoy a night out or two.

Some of the popular beach bars include the Cabana, Palm Beach, and Tango Mar all of which can be found on the west of the island near Parikia.

Feel The Authentic Vibes Of Parikia

Parikia is the islands largest settlement. It is probably the most underrated place in Paros. Home to the islands main port, Parikia often goes unnoticed. This is because most visitors that arrive to Paros by ferry head straight to Naoussa or elsewhere without giving Parikia a second glance. Dont be these visitors or youll miss out on Parikias many hidden treasures.

The Old Town of Parikia, this magical maze of whitewashed streets, gorgeous bulidings and quaint caf├ęs, is utterly beautiful. If were being honest, Parikia is way more authentic than Naoussa. Strolling around the narrow alleys of Parikia is a unique opportunity to watch local island life go by in the most charming way.

One of the best spots to enjoy a fantastic sunset in Parikia is the Castle. From there you can enjoy unique views to the port and the Aegean Sea beyond. Another fantastic time to visit the Castle of Parikia is early in the morning when the Old Town is sleepy and, thus, indescribably lovely.
