This museum mapping Norwalks past is based at the red brick Georgian Revival former Lockwood House, which was funded by Manice de Forest Lockwood and his cousin Julia Belden Lockwood, and built in 1973. The collections were relocated in the 1990s and then brought back here with the opening of the Norwalk Historical Society Museum in 2015. In 2019 there was a series of interesting, simultaneous exhibitions, dealing with mid-20th-century African-American Migration from the South, valuable porcelain from the Farrington-Lockwood Collection, photography in 19th-century Norwalk and the buildings architect Margaret Hoyt Smith.
Form, Function & Family displayed silver from the historical society and City of Norwalk collections, while Norwalk Collects is a display of 30 representative objects from the museums deep collections.

A wonderful small, brick lined room where good food is served and a one hour show is presented that is delightful entertainment with everyone listening. Last night an amazing singer, Jeff Harnar presented various Cole Porter songs along with fascinating stories about Cole. Next week our favorite pianist, Chris Coogan and singer Michele Grace will undoubtedly supremely entertain the 60 fascinated listeners with there amazing harmonies and clever presentations from the great American Songbook.

Built in the 1890s, this charming house once belonged to one of the first families in the city – the Johnstons. Playing a significant role in the education system of the city, D.D. Johnston had been an icon and a prominent person in Norwalk. His house, the Hargitt House is made of Redwood, featuring a gorgeous Victorian design. This house is a testament to the lavish life of the rich Norwalk resident during the 18th-century.

A Brief Introduction To Norwalk Ct
Norwalk is located in an idyllic spot on picturesque Long Island Sound in western Connecticut. Its an easy drive or train ride from the New York metropolitan area.
Norwalk is deceptively bursting with history.
It is hard to imagine, for example, that the now peaceful setting at Calf Pasture Beach was the landing point for British troops. Seeing as it was the Revolutionary War, those troops proceeded to burn the original mid-16th century town to the ground in 1779.
Today, Norwalk is affectionately known as Oyster Town, as a nod to its links to the countrys historic oyster industry.

Norwalks Bowlmor is the closest bowling alley to Greenwich. This writer spent many a winter evening here as a teenager. To be fair, bowling is arguably one of the top winter activities in Connecticut.
Personally, this writer lost interest in bowling after discovering the best Connecticut breweries, several of which are in Norwalk:

Visit: The Maritime Aquarium At Norwalk
If you havent been to the Maritime Aquarium in a year or two, youll be astounded by the change. Gone is the 19,000 gallon indoor-outdoor Seal Exhibit and in its place an entirely indoor 160,000 gallon 2-story habitat for those swimming cuties.
One of the largest attractions in the state, this once Long Island Sound focused aquarium, in a former 1860s iron works factory renovated as a state-of-the-art educational center, draws over half a million visitors a year. Lately, it has pivoted to programs on worldwide Climate Change, and how our planets oceans influence weather and the environment.
Live sharks in a 110,000 gallon tank, loggerhead turtles, seals, rays and jellyfish join a cast of other aquatic animals. Some you can pet. Others are best left behind glass.
The IMAX Theater has also been closed, and will be demolished, due to the upcoming replacement of a Metro-North railroad bridge just a few yards away. Now the Maritime Aquarium features a 4-D theater, which makes watching a 15-minute movie about sharks frighteningly interactive. .
Some new exhibits are also drawing more and more visitors here. The Newmans Own funded interactive video wall is New Englands largest at 9X32. Kids, can paint a choice of fish or sea creature and then watch it swim around. Ive never seen so many rainbow colored dolphins and flounder. Ever.
