The Center For Postnatural History
The Center for PostNatural History is one of the city of Pittsburghs more unique and odd museums. First opening to visitors in March of 2012, the center has a focus on postnatural organisms. Postnatural is defined by the Center for PostNatural History as the study of the origins, habitats, and evolution of organisms that have been intentionally and heritably altered by humans. Topics such as genetic modification and selective breeding are explored back to the roots that extend to thousand of years in the past. Items on display have been modified to some extent to change their genetic traits.

See We The Youth Mural
We the Youth
We have loved Keith Harings work for decades and were happily surprised to learn that Philadelphia has one of a handful of the pop artists original murals that still exist where he painted them. Located at the corner of 22nd & Ellsworth, We the Youth is immediately recognizable as the cartoon-like, brightly-colored work of Haring.
We the Youth was created by Haring in collaboration with CityKids of New York and Brandywine Workshop in 1987. It was restored by the Mural Arts program and is open to the public. Its one of the coolest things to see in Philly for lovers of Harings style.

History Of The Fountain Of Youth Near Pittsburgh
Built in the late 1930s by the Work Progress Administration , the Fountain of Youth was designed to be a replica of a Roman spring house.
Published reports suggest that it was a popular source for locals to get water until 1955, when the water was deemed unfit for human consumption due to high bacteria levels.
Standing inside the Fountain of Youth, you can see where the pump that once existed inside the spring house has been removed, to discourage people from drawing water from the spring.
Walk Through Magic Gardens
South Street is home to one of the most creative attractions in the city, Philadelphias Magic Gardens. The unique museum, which bills itself as a immersive mixed media art environment, was created by artist Isaiah Zagar. It began as a project to beautify South Street and expanded into this unique place.
Using reclaimed materials, Zagar created this unexpected space that is essentially a giant, walk-through mosaic. The project weaves inside and outside, incorporating bicycle spokes, bottles, mirrors, and other items into the giant work. Weve never seen anything like it anywhere else, so its one of our top places to visit.

Freedom Falls And Rockland Furnace
Freedom Falls might be one of the most unique and beautiful waterfalls in all of Pennsylvania. Located in a rural area north of Emlenton, this waterfall is roughly twice as wide as it is tall and is located a short hike from the roadway.
Just a few hundred feet downstream from the waterfall is the beautifully preserved Rockland Furnace, which was once part of the areas industry. Today, it sits abandoned and in remarkably good shape, save for some unfortunate graffiti.
For more information on visiting the area, check out my article about how to get to Freedom Falls.
St Johns Church In Franklin
St. Johns Church in Franklin might be one of the most amazing churches in all of Pennsylvania, but few know of its claim to fame. What makes this church so special is that it is one of only seven churches in the world with a full set of Tiffany stained glass windows.
Seeing these windows is a sight to behold, and its amazing to learn about the masterful techniques that went into creating the windows in this church. Self-guided tours are allowed, but getting a guide offers great insight into the meaning and significance of these works of art.
More information about visiting can be found on the churchs website.

Eat At The Bourse Food Hall
The Bourse is home to the citys first artisanal food hall. Its the perfect location for a good meal in Old City if youre visiting the historic attractions there, but its also designed to be a destination in and of itself.
Once the site of the first commodities exchange market in the US, the historic building houses more than 20 vendors with a focus on local concepts. We loved the chicken sandwich at Freebyrd and the custom ice cream creations at Scoop DeVille. Weve also been fans of Bluebird Distilling since long before they had a location in the city, so stop by for a cocktail made from their craft spirits if you have the time on your trip to Philadelphia.
