Favorite 4th Of July Celebrations

I’m working on my summer camping reservations at the Minnesota State Park system. For the Fourth of July, my partner and I like to camp somewhere that there is a 4th of July celebration nearby–preferably with a parade , fireworks, and other fun activities. What are your favorites?

I’ve heard, but cannot confirm, that some of the bigger cities on the iron range have some great 4th of July celebrations.. the old school kinda way.

If you don’t get many replies, consider contacting the Chambers of Commerce of some of the cities up north.

I have the perfect place for you. Ely Minnesota. They have a big parade, where they throw candy, beads and last year sun glasses. There is also games and music, and a bar-b-qu in the town park, all day long. Then they end the day with a big fireworks display.

Ely,MN billes its self as the end of the road. It is a nice little town, just before you head out into the Boundry Waters. Last year was my first time there for the Fourth, but I know I’ll be returning every year that I can.

If you want to stay close to the cities, Forest Lake still has the traditional celebration with everything you’re looking for. Could camp at Interstate or William O’ Brien. Both about 20 minutes away.

Spicer, which is about 2 hours west of the Twin Cities has a wonderful parade, complete with tossed candy and other fun stuff. There are also many activities throughout the day and fireworks on the night of the 4th.

Sibley State Park is nearby.

Celebrate On The Beach Of Lake Nokomis

Lake Nokomis is known for being more lively with plenty to eat, drink and do in the area. Make new friends on the pier and enjoy delicious food and local beer. Then, take a swim in the lake or try your hand on a jet ski. Vacation rentals in the area have views that are out of this world where you can watch fireworks right from your porch. Enjoy your morning cup of joe overlooking the beautiful sunrise over the lake and appreciate the good things in life.

Places To Watch Fireworks

PLEASE NOTE: The sound of fireworks may trigger the nervous system of dogs and other pets with hearing sensitivity, causing them to become anxious or afraid. If you intend to bring your dog to an outdoor Minneapolis celebration, make sure they are on a leash and close by during the fireworks display to ensure that they do not run away.

Chain Of Lakes Regional Park

Fair to say that Minneapoliss lakes are a feather in the citys cap.

In the 19th century the lakeshores were left free of development and remained public property, and the land around Brownie Lake, Cedar Lake, Lake of Isles, Bde Maka Ska and Lake Harriet merges into one regional park.

At that time the Chain of Lakes was rather lyrically described as being like a necklace of diamond in settings of emerald. Theres a lot of ground to cover in the Chain of Lakes Regional Park, so its a good idea to rent a bike from one of the branches of Wheel Fun Bike Rentals.

On warm summer days you can pack a lunch and pedal off in search of sandy beaches and places to grill, go fishing, take picnics or go bird-watching.

In winter the Chain of Lakes have ice rinks, cross-country ski trails and places to warm up with a hot chocolate.

Fourth Of July In Minneapolis

Our family of four is going to be in Minneapolis for July 4 & 5. Are fireworks scheduled for downtown? If so, is there a hotel that is near the fireworks location? We plan to go to MOA and possibly a baseball game as well, so staying in another location and traveling somewhere for firworks is an option as well. What would be some good choices for us? Thanks.

St. Paul will have fireworks as part of the “Taste of Minnesota” festivities. These are held on the riverfront in St. Paul. Lots of fun and a nice show!

Minneapolis may not have the fireworks – but you may enjoy staying there.

If I understand the responses so far, St. Paul will have fireworks, but Minneapolis may not . If our primary plans are for the MOA and baseball game, what’s the best location to stay in if the only fireworks are in St. Paul? What would be the best way to travel to our various locations based on a hotel recommendation? Car, Light Rail, Bus, etc. Thanks so much.

car – you can travel to St. Paul for fireworks & Mall of America.

There’s also bus to St. Paul & Light Rail to Mall of America if you won’t have a car.

Elysian Fireworks July 3rd At 10 Pm

With numerous activities like a medallion hunt, a classic car show, kids fishing contest, and bean bag tournament , Elysians Fourth of July Celebration lasts a full ten days from start to finish!

The festivities include a flea market, a silent auction, and one of the longest parades south of the metro. In addition to the traditional parade with candy, military units, and pageant princesses, the Lake Francis Lake Association hosts a boat parade!

Participants decorate their boats to look like floats, turn up their patriotic tunes, and drive the perimeter of the lake. Park along the lakeshore or join a friend on a dock and observe this small-town act of patriotism.

Perhaps the most anticipated event during Elysians extravaganza is the culmination. The fireworks. The city shoots the fireworks up from DNR property on Lake Francis, and its a tradition for community members to watch from their boats.

If youve got a watercraft, head to the lake at dusk, drop your anchor, and be awed by their incredible fireworks display. Be ready to join in all the boat-horn honking that follows the finale!
