Angler & Ale At Hawks Cay Resort
In addition to a great menu, Angler & Ale offers panoramic views, indoor and outdoor seating, and lounge areas with two fire pits. We also love that guests can leverage their Hook N Cook option: bring in your fresh catch and have a chef cook it up.
You can pick from sandwiches, ribs, burgers, salads and more. Hubs and I both went with the catch of the day with zero regrets. The chef takes the freshest fish available and adds his own spin!
Finally, dont leave without dessert. We were going to skip it, but the waiter brought us the Chocolate Overload Cheesecake and wow! A must!

The Seven Miles Bridge
The Seven Miles Bridge may well be one of the most well-known bridges in the world. After all, it has featured in many movies including 2 Fast 2 Furious and Mission Impossible III and was once considered an eighth wonder of the world.
Currently, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a must-see on any visit to the Florida Keys.
Admire it from afar, take some pictures of it or, better yet, drive across it from Knights Key to Little Duck Key and enjoy experiencing a spectacular feat of architecture with stunning ocean views.

You can even book a private tour if you want one or go with other people. If you want to see all of the Mangrove Rivers- you might have to choose a 1-hour trip.
On the other hand, if you want to see some of the Florida Keys along with the different mangrove swamps that fall on the way- it might take up to 3 hours.

Florida Keys/marathon International Airport
There is a small public airport on Marathon, the Florida Keys Marathon Airport.
The airport has had periodic commercial airline use in the past, but today it does not have regular commercial flights.
Its mostly used by general aviation, private aircraft and charter air services.
Its also used for airborne hurricane disaster relief after major storms.
The airport has an interesting history. It was built in 1942 as part of the WW2 war effort. It was originally used by the military, and was later managed by a series of different government organizations.
The airport is a launching point for helicopter tours, and also has an aviation museum.
The museum has educational exhibits, flight memorabilia, aviation artifacts and a flight simulator.
There are also historical aircraft on display. Some planes may be open for visitors to board and explore.
There is no cost to enter the museum, but donations are appreciated to help keep the site running.
The aviation museum is open daily from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail
Sure, you can drive the Seven Mile Bridge on a road trip, but theres a different way to experience the Florida Keys. One of the best things to do in the Keys is to take it all in from the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail.
Many existing pathways and bridges from the remains of Henry Flaglers Florida East Coast Railway make up the trail. Currently, it features 90 linear miles of transportation corridor, soon to be 106 miles in total spanning from Key West to Key Largo.
The inspiration for the Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail parallels Highway 1 in California. The FKOHT today aspires to be a National Scenic Highway and All-American Road.
Pedestrian and bicycle-friendly, here you can go hiking, running, bicycling, skating, sightseeing, fishing, and paddling. Always check the weather and fishing pier closures before heading out. Conditions on the bridges may be treacherous.
From the trail, you can access many points of interest like Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary, and more! You also have access to 10 Florida State Parks as well as private campsites.

Have A Fun Day At Otherside Adventure Park
One of the best ways to have some fun with your kids is to check out the Otherside Adventure Park. If you have a bit of time on your last day here at Marathon, and you are looking forward to spending some quality time with your family, we suggest you head over here.
The place is the ideal one if you want to have some fun with the waters. You can get into a lot of activities here.

Overseas Pub And Grill
With daily food specials and live local music from 6-10 p.m. most nights, this is another fun hangout for locals. The music is generally a solo musician or small band playing blues or country music. Locals like the Overseas Pub for its variety: Mexican Monday, Irish Tuesday, barbecue Thursday, fish fry Friday. Brunch on the weekends. The full bar serves a good variety of local beers, and theres a package liquor store attached. 3574 Overseas Hwy, Marathon, FL 33050

Castaway Waterfront Restaurant And Sushi Bar
If you crave sushi, this is the place. For other seafood, we were not impressed. Castaway styles itself as upscale and expects you to make a reservation. We didnt, and we ended up in the back of the cavernous, mostly empty restaurant next to a boisterous band of local fishermen and women in a booth with no view.
The seafood is fresh, though, and much of it is sourced locally. You can try lionfish or conch sushi in addition to your basic sashimi, maki and nigiri, but its pricey. We opted for the local catch. I made the mistake of ordering my fresh snapper with the recommended sauce, and it came swimming in so much cream I could not even see the fish. To get here, we took a taxi from the marina, available within Marathon for $7 flat rate per trip. 1406 Ocean View Ave, Marathon, FL 33050

But, here is a catch- how about tasting the freshest stuff they have to offer us? Interested? Come on, lets get to Brutus Seafood Market & Eatery.
There is a unique thing about this particular restaurant and that happens to be that it has its fish market!
You can find the freshest shellfishes along with a variety of seafood options. The shop even has some fine wines that you can pair up with some gourmet loaves of bread!

Play On Sombrero Beach
One of the best-kept beach secrets in the Florida Keys, Sombrero Beach on Marathon Key, is perfect for families.
The wide, curving sandy beach on the Atlantic Ocean is stunning the water turquoise blue. The shady park with towering palm trees is what I picture in my mind when I think of Florida. Add in picnic pavilions, volleyball courts, and a childrens playground, and you have a perfect day. The clean restrooms and showers are handicap accessible, and best of all it offers free parking close to the water.
Pet friendly, secluded, and quiet, the shallow water is perfect for kids to play in the surf and swim with colorful fish. There are many beach spots in Marathon, but you cant go wrong with this one.
Grab A Slice Of Key Lime Pie
Theres nothing that screams Florida Keys than setting your watch to island time and indulging at some of the best restaurants in the Florida Keys. While the lime trees are most prominent in Key West, they make their way up to Marathon to be turned into a Florida Keys delicacy.
Just imagine spending the day soaking up the sun while floating in the ocean and then having the most amazing slice of chilled Key Lime Pie! Sounds fantastic, right? Key Lime Pie always seems to hit the spot because it is light, refreshing, and the perfect balance between sweet and tart.
For the best Key Lime Pie in Marathon, youre going to want to check out Sweet Savannahs Bakery of the Florida Keys! A quaint shop that sells plenty of other sweets and some of the best salt scrubs around, Sweet Savannahs wont let you down. We recommend taking home an entire pie!
For a variation on the classic, check out the Keys Fishery. A chill spot for conch fritters and other Keys specialties, here you can try Key Lime Pie with a twist. The Keys Fishery serves up a delectable Raspberry Key Lime Pie that is just as refreshing as the original and totally out of this world!
