Located 20 miles southeast of Longview, it is a tranquil spot in the East Texas woodlands. The park is situated close to Martin Creek Lake, which spans 5,000 acres. Campgrounds and leased rooms are available and may be booked online beforehand.

The Starr Family Home State Historic Site, situated in the center of Marshalls museums and cultural events, is made up of many magnificent buildings that depict the Starr familys 150-year existence in Texas. The Starr family, a famous family that helped establish most of Texas during the 1800s, lived in this majestic Greek Revival-style palace. The structures journey through four generations of the Starr family in Texas history is traced with period furniture, apparel, and artifacts.
Things to do- Starr Family Mansion offers tours of the 1871 Greek Revival home and information about the Starr family. You may also take a guided tour of Maplecroft Mansion, the sites showpiece, and wander the grounds at their leisure. Air U was founded in 2012 by a group of friends. Their goal was to bring fun activities to Longview, so they decided to open an indoor trampoline park that caters to different parties. They have grown to about three branches in the US and one in Canada. Each Air U facility features basketball and dodgeball courts, a foam pit, trampolines, and private rooms.
If you want a wholesome activity for your kids party, then book one at Air U. Rest assured, the kids will have lots of purely good fun!

Explore East Texas By Train
Its not every day you get to ride on a train, but you can check this off your bucket list in Longview. In fact, it is one of the best ways to explore the Piney Woods. Longview is home to the fifth busiest Amtrak station in Texas, and its Colonial Revival red brick depot is the perfect starting point to discovering the region. Kick back and watch as loblolly pines and sweetgum trees pass by from the comfort of your plush seat.For a fun day trip, head west from Longviews depot and you will pass through Gladewater and Big Sandy en route to Mineola, home to one of the prettiest downtown areas in Texas. Browse local shops, check out the farmers market and historic theater, and get a drink and a bite to eat before hopping back on board the eastbound train back that afternoon, just in time for a nightcap in downtown Longview. For longer overnight trips, go farther west to Dallas or Fort Worth, or venture east to check out the spectacular Old Harrison County Courthouse in Marshall or the stunning Ace of Clubs House in Texarkana, a stately 1885 Italian Victorian home built in the shape of a club from a deck of cards.

That’s what you get when you partake in the Great Texas Balloon Race, which takes place in Longview every year in late July.
You will witness not only incredible hot air balloons but also some of the finest hot air balloon pilots in the country. One tip is to stay until after dark.
The Balloon Glow begins at that point, as hundreds of people use their gas burners to light up their multicolored balloons.
It’s a breathtaking sight!
