Oktoberfest At Great Escape
The weekends of September 20-21 and September 27-28 will feature Oktoberfest at the Great Escape. From 1 to 4 p.m. each day, visitors will experience the season with festive foods, traditional German music and dancing along with a great selection of fall beers.
The event features fun games and the chance to win great prizes all day long in the German Fest Area of the park. Two headlining bands will take the main stage by SkyCoaster for classic entertainment all afternoon while the Alpine Fest Haus will be alive with acoustic performances to delight guests. Beer and food tents throughout the event area will include seasonal brews and German food offerings and a traditional German Buffet will be offered inside the Fest Haus. Live music will include Daddios, Tonys Polka Band and Ed Schenk & The Conti Kids.

Taste Of The North Country Food Festival
On September 28, the 22nd Annual Taste of the North Country Food Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Glens Falls City Park. Admission is $5 for adults and under 18 is free. Blessing Of The Animals
On October 5, the Priory Retreat House at 135 Priory Road in Chestertown will hold a Blessing of the Animals at 1 p.m. This custom evolved as a remembrance of St. Francis of Assisis love for all creatures. Everyone is welcome to bring their pet to be blessed. Just let them know when you register what kind of animal you are bringing. A special blessing box and prayer slips will be available for those animals who cannot come or are deceased.
Swimming In Lake George
If you are visiting during the summer months you will want to swim at Lake George. If you are staying at a resort with beach access you are all set but if you are not you may want to look at Million Dollar Beach. Fort William Henry Museum & Restoration
The Fort William Henry Museum is next on my list of things to do in Lake George. Whilst Lake George is mostly marketed on its activities and fun, the area has a great degree of history as well!
Fort William Henry is in the centre of the village and was a pivotal spot during the French and Indian War. Here you can look at the museum exhibits whilst witnessing live firing demonstrations of old-fashioned muskets and cannons.
Kids absolutely love being able to join the kings army for the day , whilst adults tend to be enamoured by this places rich history. A major pro to this is that your kids get a uniform, musket and even a participation certificate that you can take away to cherish.
If you love your military history, youve got to give this place a visit as its one of a kind. This is one of the best things to do in Lake George, especially for families and kids!

Ive visited the Adirondacks in New York more times over the past two years than I ever thought possible. There is something about this region of the Adirondacks that just keeps pulling me back in. My most recent visit, while attending the Adventure Travel and Trade Association conference, brought me to beautiful Lake George NY. Lake George is a region I had breezed through before but I hadnt taken the time to stop and properly explore.
We had done the popular Revolution Rail experience, but at the time, I didnt realize just how close I was to Upstate New Yorks premier cottage country. On this visit, I was determined to experience all the amazing things to do in Lake George NY. And I had my work cut out for me.
For a small town, there are way more things to do in Lake George than I had expected. A lot of this has to do with the huge influx of visitors that flock here each summer for cottage rentals and Lake George camping. After visiting Lake Placid, I thought I had experience peak Adirondacks tourism. But it seems that Lake George New York has decided to make a go for the title. Although Lake George village has a year-round population of around 3,500 people, if you visited Lake George in the summer, you would never know it. Visit The Wild Center

Hike To Shelving Rock Waterfall
About one-third of the way up Lake George across from Tongue Mountain is one of my favorite easy Lake George hiking trails. The trail to Shelving Rock Waterfall starts in Log Bay and winds up to Shelving Rock Rd before circling back down towards the waterfall. Along the way are spectacular overlooks of Lake George. Shelving Rock itself is a perfect place to stop for a picnic before continuing along the trail.

Star Trek Original Series Set Tour
After you travel back in time at Fort Ticonderoga, you can take a trip to the future! Not far from Fort Ticonderoga, you can experience the final frontier with a Star Trek Original Series Set Tour.
Star Trek fans will love being able to walk through exact replicas of the sets from the 1960s television sci-fi series. While the original sets were dismantled and mostly destroyed, that didnt stop Trekkie James Cawley. He used the original blueprints from the show to rebuild these sets just as they looked during filming.
Plan your trip just right, you may even run into William Shatner. Hes been known to make special appearances from time to time.
You may also want to catch Trekonderoga, an annual fan favorite event. The 2021 event is scheduled for September 24-26 and includes a special guest appearance by George Takei, who starred as Lieutenant Sulu in the series and several Star Trek movies as well.
