Beautiful farm with history, beer, wine, cigars, thunder storms and friendly staff. We went on a hot Thursday evening during July and enjoyed a bottle of their tasty Barolo blend along with quesadillas from the onsite food truck. My husband enjoyed a cigar purchased on site also in a section a smart business partner named Jen has set up in a former cargo container. A clever configuration opens up onto a covered patio with outdoor rugs and couches over the grass, where cigars can be enjoyed at your leisure. Jen pointed out a civi war plaque which marks the site where Stonewall Jackson had the emergency amputation of his arm.

We chose to rent kayaks through R& R Kayaks at Rocky Branch Marina and Campground. Were so glad we did! The marina is located in a cove that was really quiet and easy to kayak around. Call ahead to make sure they still have kayaks available and they will meet you right by the water! It was a really beautiful day and after kayaking, we went for a nice swim off the peer right where we had kayaked.

Lake Anna At A Glance
Lake Anna was created in the 1970s by Dominion Energys predecessor, Virginia Electric and Power Company, to provide cooling for the companys North Anna Power Station. The company purchased 18,000 acres of land in 1968 and cleared it to create the 9,600-acre Lake Anna reservoir and the 3,400-acre North Anna Waste Heat Treatment Facility . The lake was formed by damming the North Anna River.
The gates of the dam were closed in January 1972 and it was projected to take three years for the lake to fill up with water from natural rainfall in time for the first North Anna unit to begin commercial operation. However, on June 21 and 22, 1972, Hurricane Agnesa tropical storm by the time it reached Central Virginiastalled and virtually filled the lake full. Water level reached 250 feet above mean sea levelor full pondin December 1972.
Both the reservoir and the WHTF play an integral role in providing safe and reliable electricity to Virginians, as well as providing a wonder place for recreation and fishing for Lake Anna residents and property owners, and thousands of people who visit the area each year.
