Getting Around New York In July

New York handles a lot of traffic every day. Therefore, over time, it has developed a vast network of public transport. It is reliable and economical. The MTA has done a wonderful job to connect the five boroughs. Take the subway if you prioritize speed over everything else. They run on all days of the year. The buses are also a good way to travel, if not the fastest. It can afford you a certain degree of sightseeing. The yellow cabs are the fastest surface means of transport within New York. The fleet is quite large too. You may also opt for the ferry to take you across the East River, Hudson River, and the Upper Bay.

Explore The Coney Island Boardwalk

This cant be a full list of free things to do in NYC without adding the famed Coney Island Boardwalk. It is especially nice to visit during the spring/summer when the weather is nice. You can enjoy getting some sun at the beach and people watch some really interesting characters! If this is your first time in New York and you are pressed for time, I would leave this one out, however.

Walk Down Wall Street

Regardless of your feelings for big banks and stewards of finance, Wall Street is a historic part of New York and world history. You also have the famous bull statue in this area.

Wall Street runs through the financial district and is home to the New York Stock Exchange which is an iconic building. You wont be able to go inside or even too close, but it is still worth the time. Right near the NYSE is the Federal Reserve Bank, which is home to some extraordinarily large gold reserves.

The NYSE is coincidentally only a 15-minute walk from Ground Zero and the new One World Trade Center, so you can see it all together.

Spend A Leisure Afternoon At A Nyc Beach

NYC is full of beautiful beaches, and the most popular one is Coney Island Beach. This nearly three-mile stretch of sea and sand offers a sweet spot to escape from the citys chaos. Best of all, it is only 50-minute away by subway from Manhattan.

Here, you can cool off with the ocean breeze or pack your favorite books, a picnic basket, and a blanket and chill on the beach, which is only a 10-minute-walk from the subway station.

If you dont want to get your feet wet, you can stroll, bike, or run on the adjacent boardwalk or grab a classic all-American hot dog from Nathans Famous. There are also corny carnival games, concessions, and shops chockablock with graphic T-shirts, souvenirs, and beach gear.

Your day will wrap up with an incredible fireworks display at 9:30 PM, which, though, isnt as big and flashy as the Macys fireworks will still take your breath away.

Fotografiska New York is a museum experience for the modern world. The institution hosts its first full-building takeover with David LaChapelle: make Believe. Vibrant images fill all six floors of the museum, with 150 works full of wit, celebrity, and technical innovation. Included are the last-ever portraits of Andy Warhol and Michael Jackson, household-name album covers, and allegorical works in dialogue with the AIDS epidemic. The show weaves together recurring themes of religion, the environment and the play between artifice and nature, gender identity, societal ideals of beauty, and LaChapelles legendary explorations of pop culture fame. The artist collaborated on the shows layout, which takes the form of a journey, interacting with the church-like details of Fotografiskas stunning 1894 neo-Gothic architecture.

Catch A Sunset Movie At Bryant Park

Bryant Park is perfectly tucked among towering office buildings that make up the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Located right behind the breathtaking New York Public Library, its not uncommon to find all the chairs and benches full during New York Citys summer days.

Clocking in at 9.6-acres, this isnt the largest park in New York City by any stretch of the imagination, but it often feels the most full.

My favorite season to visit Bryant Park is summer because of all the events being hosted. Most notable, New York City summers welcome the long-awaited free movies on the lawn. The entire field gets filled with cheery folks on picnic blankets, which feels like the epitome of joy.
