See A Show At The Peace Center
Beat the heat and head indoors to catch one of the Peace Center shows. One year Ryan and I saw Riverdance during the summer and in years past it had shows like The Lion King, Finding Neverland, The Book of Mormon, Cats, and more.
And if heading indoors doesnt call to you, they do have several shows at their outdoor TD Stage along the the river. Check out the White Claw Concerts in July. Youll need a ticket and they go on sale for all three shows starting June 3rd.
You cant beat sitting by the river and listening to some music.

Have you ever thought about visiting Greenville, SC? If not, no worries! I heard many amazing things about the city over the past few years, but honestly, it was not until somewhat recently that it became a must-see for me. Greenville SC is 100% a must-see. The city of 70,000 which is tucked into the Appalachian foothills doesnt seem like an obvious destination choice to some. However, it has many charms making it worth your time in more ways than one, and this city takes full advantage of them!
We recently had the chance to visit and experience this city on a weekend getaway, and what a trip it was! Avery, myself, and Ian all had a blast and we all like different things when we travel Avery loves sleeping and seeing animals, I love eating and finding unique coffee shops, Ian loves beer, air conditioning, and copious amounts of food, and we all love seeing the real city by getting active and exploring.
Im so excited to share this with you, so lets dive in!

What To Eat And Drink
From causal spots slinging Texas-style barbecue to fine dining restaurants offering steak dinners with a view, Greenville’s restaurants offer a variety of options for every budget and palate.
For a fancy evening out, try seasonal, shareable small plates at the acclaimed The Anchorage, or sip on Italian aperitivi while eating house-made pasta at Jianna. If you want traditional Southern fare such as pimento cheese with pickled okra, she-crab soup, fried chicken, and shrimp and grits, head to Soby’s, one of the city’s original fine dining establishments. For a more laid-back meal, try Sidewall Pizza Company for build-your-own pies , Kitchen Sync for farm-fresh fare and vegetable-forward dishes, or Bobby’s BBQ for wood-smoked meats and Southern sides.
The city also has a thriving nightlife, with dive bars, swanky speakeasies, and local breweries. The Trappe Door is a basement bar with the city’s best selection of Belgian and Belgian-style beers, plus several varieties of moules-frites . Drink with panoramic views at UP on the Roof, which has an extensive list of wines by the bottle and glass, local and regional craft beer, and seasonal cocktails. Vault & Vator is a downtown subterranean speakeasy pouring classic cocktails, house specialty drinks, wine, beer, and a concise menu of small plates. Or, dance the night away at Abanico Tapas Bar, Restaurant & Music, which serves pitchers of sangria and Spanish-style tapas like patatas bravas.
Have A Drink At The Breweries

There are over 15 craft breweries to choose from in Greenville. Fireforge Brewery is a must-visit in your adventures around town and one of the best breweries in South Carolina! What better way to cool off than with one of their cold flagship pints or seasonal specialty beers. There is always something inventive on tap here. Try the Perlins Ghost Pepper Pale Ale.
This small-batch brewery has a rustic feel and is set in a renovated warehouse space and decked out with vintage furniture and natural wood. The beer garden is great for gathering and relaxing with some tasty drafts.
Birds Fly South is a gem for enjoying expertly crafted brews. They focus on farmhouse and Saison styles but offer a full-ranging roster, including IPAs, lagers, and stouts. This refurbished urban farmhouse has plenty of space, including two bars inside serving separate taps. Deemed progressively old school, they brew beers using traditional styles with a modern twist.
You can always find a local food truck on-site for snacks, and the outdoor garden is perfect for sipping pints while you soak up the Carolina sunshine.

The Swamp Rabbit Trail
This was awesome, and possibly my favorite part of the entire trip. We took the trail north from Greenville to Travelers Rest and made some stops along the way to grab coffee, snacks, and more.
The Swamp Rabbit Cafe & Grocery is a must, as its packed with fresh, local foods, some amazing cinnamon rolls, coffee, trail snacks, and nearly anything else you can think of. We ended up hitting this spot again on our way out of town to stock up on amazing fresh, local, organic produce, and other favorites like Sweets elderberry syrup and a local raw cream. SO GOOD!
Pro tip: When you bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail, grab bikes from Reedy Rides. They even had a baby seat for Avery, so it made it really convenient.
Camping In The Mountains
There are two seasons where I love to camp. Summer and fall.
But summer can be really hot. So my solution to this is to head into the mountains. Nowcamping has become really, freaking popular in the past couple of years. So if you want to go camping on a weekend at an established campground, be prepared to book it like months in advance.
All of the state campgrounds in South Carolina and North Carolina mountains are great options.
Look for state park campgrounds . Or head into North Carolina and camp at the Davidson Campground in Pisgah National Forest.
