Embrace Art Culture & History At A Museum

An Afternoon In Glens Falls NewYork Cute Small Town

The Hyde Collection

Museums are a fun, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon looking at stunning artwork, learning about the history of our area, and spending quality time with family. We’re lucky enough in the Glens Falls area to have spectacular museums to check out.

The Hyde Collection has been called “The Crown Jewel of Glens Falls,” and with good reason. The historic house and museum encompass a world-class collection of art that spans from the 4th century BC through the 20th century. The Hyde is considered to be one of the most exceptional small art museums in the Northeast.

If you don’t want to bring the kids to the museum with you, another option is to head to Kassia’s Play Dates. They’re primarily a drop off babysitting center, but offer a “stay and play” option as well, and there are tons of toys and play activities available for a variety of ages.

If you do want to get your kids in on the museum experience, The World Awareness Children’s Museum is just for kids. They focus on bringing different cultures from around the world right to Glens Falls through interactive exhibitions, programs, and events. Although the museum is tailored to kids of all ages it’s an especially nice place to bring toddlers. It can be difficult to find things to do indoors with kids ages 1 to 3, and the children’s museum is one place where you can let them run around and be free to explore without the need to chase them every second.

Among the major attractions in Glens Falls are The Hyde Collection Art Museum, The Charles R. Wood Theater, and The Glens Falls Civic Center, which hosts concerts, events, and professional sports games.
