Visit The Shot Gun Houses
The iconic shot gun houses are a very unmissable free thing to check out while in Atlanta.
This style of house was popular from the end of the Civil war to the 1920s. You can find these houses on the same street as Martin Luther King Jrs childhood home .
The reason they are called shot gun houses is very interesting. The front door is in perfect alignment with the back door. If you sent a gunshot through the front door, it would go right through the back.
During Martin Luther King Jrs childhood, these houses were home to Atlantas black residents, who, at the time, were segregated from the white population of Atlanta.
Visit The Homage To King On Freedom Parkway
Around the corner from Jackson Street bridge you will see the iconic Homage to King monument on Freedom Parkway.
The sculpture of MLK raising his hand in the air was erected in 1996 by Xavier Medina from Barcelona.
We thought it was a cool piece of art that was worth checking out while you are in Atlanta.
It is designed to integrate the pedestrian and bike path which joins Atlanta downtown to Freedom Parkway.

Grab A Taco At Hankook Taqueria
Address: 1341 Collier Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
Dining from a food truck may not seem like an unmissable thing to do in Atlanta at night, but you have not experienced Atlanta until you have enjoyed food from Hankook Taqueria. Street food vendors in Atlanta may be a dime a dozen but there are none like Hankook Taqueria where street food meets traditional Korean cuisine.
The food fusions created by chef Tomas Lee will make your mouth water. The beef bulgogi is so flavorful and served on a warm tortilla covered with lime, jack cheese, cilantro, and a soy sesame vinaigrette. Order a few tacos and head over to a nearby park for an impromptu picnic. It is an experience you will not soon forget.
Explore The Aska Adventure Area
As great as the downtown Blue Ridge restaurants, shops, and history are, the natural beauty of the Aska Adventure Area is truly the heart of what makes Blue Ridge GA so special.
Located south of town along the banks of the Toccoa River, Aska means winter home in Cherokee. This was the area settled by the Stanley family, the first Europeans who came to what is now Blue Ridge from the North Carolina backcountry in the early 1800s.
Today the Aska area is home to an impressive array of outdoor adventures. Its excellent hiking/biking trails include the 2.3-mile Long Branch Loop, the 2.8-mile Green Mountain Loop, and the 6-mile Flat Creek Loop. The AT also crosses through these parts.
You can also camp at the Toccoa Valley Campgrounds, kayak the Toccoa River, walk to Fall Branch Falls, and see historic landmarks including the areas oldest churches, farms, and the iconic Shallowford Bridge.

Horseback riding in Blue Ridge is a very popular activity, and Blue Ridge Mountains Trail Rides was one of the areas first tour operators to offer it.

Watch Ali & Nino Embrace
Ali & Nino is a bit of a cliche but a Batumi must see nonetheless. Also known as the Statue of Love, the metal sculpture was created in 2010 by Georgian artist Tamara Kvesitadze. The two figures, Ali and Nino, come from the pages of Kurban Saids terrific novel of the same name.
Ali & Nino live at the top of the Boulevard near the Ferris wheel. You can visit any time of day, but its best to come at 7pm when the revolving platform starts moving. The two figures slide together, merging for an instant before drifting apart again.

Drive-in movie theaters are increasingly rare these days, but there was a time back in the mid-20th century when they were all the rage.
Opened in 1955, the Swan Drive-In Theatre was named after one of the original owners favorite birds when he was stationed in England before World War II.
Since many rural homes had no TVs at that time, going to the drive-in was an especially popular Blue Ridge attraction. Today, the Swan Drive-In Theatre is one of just 5 drive-in theaters in Georgia that are still in operation.
The theatre offers first-run movies 7 days a week, with double features on Friday and Saturday nights. Ticket prices are just $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages 4 to 11.
There are concessions available, but no credit cards are accepted, so bring cash.

Remember that waterfalls and rocky summits can be dangerous. Never try to climb waterfalls or get close to a ledge to get a selfie.
