What are people saying about things to do near Front Royal, VA 22630?
This is a review for things to do near Front Royal, VA 22630:
“Really cool opportunity for great views and hikes! It cost $30 to get in, or $80 if you buy the National Park Pass that lasts 1 year. As other people have mentioned, the pictures just don’t do it justice. It would take you 4 hours to drive the entire park. We spoke with a park ranger and he mentioned 3 hikes that were good and told us to stop at marker 65. I recommend stopping and talking to the park ranger to customize the trip for yourselves. You could stop at every overlook, in fact, we saw some cars doing that because each view is different and unique. Towards the end we just drove through the overlooks, but you can get some amazing views. October/early November is perfect to see the leaves changing.”

CANOEING AND CAMPING
Front Royal is the official Canoe Capital of Virginia and with good reason. The north and south forks of the legendary Shenandoah River join here to form the main stem of the Shenandoah, which continues a northward flow to its confluence with the Potomac River at Harpers Ferry. The rivers offer a variety of boating, fishing and swimming opportunities, with occasional areas of relatively mild class I, II and III rapids. Several boat launch sites are located throughout the county. Bring your own canoe, or rent from one of several outfitters. They will assist you with logistics such as drop-off and pick-up services and provisioning. Rafting and tubing are also popular river sports for families and are also provided by local outfitters.
Camping is popular in a variety of other settings, including family campgrounds and riverside camping. Shenandoah National Park, George Washington National Forest and Raymond R. Andy Guest Shenandoah River State Park offer both family and backwoods options. The National Park Service requires a permit for backwoods camping, which is available at any of the National Park entrance stations at no additional cost. There is a park entrance fee.

Compared to Luray these caverns are much more real! Small spaces at times, beautiful lighting, only a mile walk! Our tour guide Christina was excellent! She was well informed, funny, and had a beautiful singing voice We learned so much about the history of the caverns, the rare formations that are here and only a few in the world! Everyone in our group respected each others space and there was no problem with social distancing! The tour guides are allowed to accept tips and Christina deserves a big one! The gift shop has great clothing, glassware, rocks, etc. to choose from and things are packaged nicely for safe transport in your car. These caverns are a must see, and dont forget to ask for tour guide Christina!
