Were currently snuggled inside, while the temperatures are subzero here in Michigan with a Polar Vortex going on outside. This has me particularly dreaming of warmer days of family fun in Fort Myers Beach, Florida.

For the past decade we have made it a tradition to spend a week every winter on Estero Island. We visit my dad who spends the winters as a snow bird there. It is a great little get away to break up the long winter months of the coldand from missing grandpa.

Since weve been there so often, weve gotten out and about to experience quite a lot of fun with the kids through the years. Following is a list of 25 fun family friendly activities within Fort Myers Beach.

Explore The Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve

With over 3500 acres of preserved wetlands, the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve is a great place to spot Florida wildlife in its natural habitat. In our experience its definitely a more enjoyable experience on a day that isnt scorching. And if you go with a keen eye you may be able to spot otters, alligators, turtles, wading birds, and more!

Imag History And Science Center

The IMAG History and Science Center is located in the heart of Fort Myers. With many exhibits in addition to its enormous theaters showing educational and entertaining documentaries, its easy to spend the entire day here. We love it for rainy days or as a nice break from the sun and heat.

Their exhibits range from traditional to highly unusual. They have a Hall of History with artifacts from southwest Floridas past and Backyard Nature to learn about native plant life and sustainable action.

Their interactive exhibits include the Living Lab, with hundreds of live animals, the Sea-to-See Touch Tank, and the Hands on Hall. Dont forget to schedule a 3D movie, too!
