This museum was a 10/10. It had a little bit of everything. Educational, art, musical, theater and a great ride at the end similar to Soarin from Epcot. I will defiantly be going again.

This is a super cool venue. You get to learn about the history of NYC and there are lots of interactive props to take pics with. The best part is the ride at the end. It takes about an hour to go through the entire exhibit but its worth every penny.

Great experience. Friendly staff. I enjoyed it as did my mom and my 9 year old daughter so this is really geared for all ages.

RiseNY is more than just a ride, it is a wonderful experience of walking through history. Great for kids and adults alike, this experience is a nice break from touristy Times Square. Make sure to take your time on the way to the ride at the end.

The Rich History Of Flushing

Flushing was first populated by the Matinecoc Native Americans. Its thought that prior to the arrival of the Europeans, more than ten thousand native Americans lived on Long Island. The Matinecoc tribe lived in what is modern-day Queens and Long Island. Disease and persecution by settlers reduced the numbers of native Americans living in this area who ended up moving to other tribal lands for safety.

Although New York was first discovered in the mid-1500s, the Dutch first settled into New York as a colony within the early 1600s. New Nederland was a place for commercial enterprises, including pelt trapping. In 1624, New Amsterdam became a Dutch colony due to a famous trade between the settlers and the Native Americans on Manhattan. Shortly after a bloody war with the native Americans, the Dutch started encouraging settlers to go on the outskirts of New York as a means of protecting New Amsterdam from native Americans. This is how Flushing gained its charter as a settlement.

Part of the Flushing charter ensured the right to freedom of religion, a rarity in the Netherlands at the time. This attracted many English Quakers to Flushing who were subject to persecution at home. Peter Stuyvesant eventually decided that Quakers would not be allowed within the colony, which resulted in John Bowne being arrested and sent to Holland for trial.

Things To Do In Queens New York: Finback Brewery

9 Best Things to Do in Queens, New York City!

Most craft brewers start out by experimenting quite a bit and eventually settle for their favorites. Kevin Stafford and Basil Lee, on the other hand, are having too much fun experimenting to settle on anything just yet.

These two founders of Finback Brewery are introducing some never-before-seen flavors in their 20-barrel brewhouse on 77th Avenue in Queens with exotic ingredients like Szechuan peppercorns, apple cider, roasted coconut, and green tea. All their witchs brews have resulted in some very interesting and extremely drinkable beers that they personally distribute in kegs around New York bars and bottle shops.

You can stop by their modern, spacious taproom and try a few beers, have a chat with other craft beer aficionados, and play a board game with them while you are at it. Everyone has their favorite drink, but you might want to try their imperial stout with chocolate and coffee from Native Coffee Roasters and Mast Brothers.
