Explore Edwards Co Things To Do
Edwards, CO, is almost always bustling with activity. Many Edwards, CO, things to do vary depending on the season, so theres fun to be had year round. Come when the grass is green and fields are filled with wildflowers, or kayak and whitewater raft in Eagle River. Anglers love Edwards, CO, as the river is one of the premier fly fishing locations in Colorado. Hike or mountain bike the trails surrounding the valley. If your legs get tired, continue your exploration the Edwards, CO, way from the back of a horse. Cordillera is a golfers haven with some of the best greens around. Most people tend to take their vacations during the summer, but those who wait until winter blankets Vail Valley in fluffy, white powder will find their patience well rewarded too. In the winter people like to visit the ski slopes at the nearby Vail Valley resorts of Beaver Creek and Vail. But Edwards, CO, things to do are worth checking out too. Swap out the summertime trail ride for a sleigh ride through the snow for example. You can even try dog sledding!
Visit Nearby Beaver Creek
Just 10 minutes west on I-70 is Beaver Creek Village, a much smaller ski area and resort town, which also has an alpine feel. Youll find fewer crowds in Beaver Creek but the same access to ski runs, shopping and a handful of restaurants. Our favorite is Toscanini, an Italian restaurant which sits just outside Beaver Creeks ice skating rink .
Another great dining experience is the gourmet Beanos Cabin higher up on Beaver Creek mountain. I highly recommend taking the horseback ride to the cabin during summer or a snowcat ride during winter.
Finally, Beaver Creek has the excellent, newly-renovated Vilar Performing Arts Center that hosts artists like musicians Bruce Hornsby, Bela Fleck and comedian Jim Gaffigan for a perfect adult date night.
Enjoy Dinner & A Movie
On our last visit to Vail, we had a fun night at the Cinebistro at Solaris in Vail Village. It makes for a good evening activity that everyone can enjoy and a nice break from all the outdoor adventures. Youll want to park in the Solaris Parking Garage where the theater will validate your ticket so you dont have to pay the garage fee.
Reserve your seats in their comfy leather high back chairs ahead of time and order and collect your food and drinks prior to the movie, bringing it with you into the theater.

Let the kids unleash some energy at one of Vails well-designed playgrounds, including Pirateship Park in Vail Village or Sunbird Park in Lionshead. Each playground is custom designed, including an artist as part of the design team to develop whimsical elements and a unique concept. Travel + Leisure even named Sunbird Park, which is inspired by area bird habitats and is also known as the Vail Nests, one of the worlds coolest playgrounds.
Ride The Mountain Coaster

Many ski areas offer fun summer activities to keep visitors coming year-round, and mountain coasters, which originated in Europe, are growing in popularity. Vail has its own version called the Forest Flyer. These coasters put you in an individual car, whose brakes you control, which wraps around a steel track for a very smooth ride.
Kids must be at least 38 inches tall to ride, and if they are smaller than 54 inches, they must ride with an adult. The mountain coaster is a blast and zips you through an aspen forest for even more epic Rocky Mountain scenery. Once you reach the bottom, the coaster motors you back to the top.

One of the best parts of Vail are its absolutely delightful villages. Vail Village is the classic-style alpine village designed to look like a quaint European town with plentiful shopping, eateries, ice cream and more. On the other side is Lionshead, which has been entirely renovated in recent years and offers a more modern style mountain entertainment district.
Both are car-free areas so you can stroll to your hearts content along heated streets , and the two villages are connected by a free bus transportation system that makes it easy to get between them. Wonderful Things To Do In Vail Colorado Besides Ski
November 18, 2019 By admin
Vail, Colorado is a winter-lovers paradise. Its heaven for skiers and snowboarders alike, but is it worth making the trip to the mountains in winter if its not your thing? Ive created this guide featuring the best things to do in Vail besides ski to help inspire and inform your winter trip to the mountains. After spending the entire winter season here, Ive tried more than my fair share of winter activities in Vail and can confidently say that the magic of the mountains is not confined to the slopes.
Vail is, without a doubt, one of my favorite places on the planet. The O.G. of ski resorts in the U.S., Vail was founded in the 1960s by a group of World War II vets. After falling in love with the classic ski resorts of Europe, they brought the tradition back home to the States and set the bar for all other US ski resorts to follow.
Today Vail remains one of the top ski destinations in North America, and its wide-open runs and infamous Back Bowls attract visitors from all over the world.
A bluebird day on the slopes of Vail
But lets say youve come all the way to the Vail Valley in the winter, and for whatever reason, youre not hitting the slopes this year.
Perhaps you have bad knee, or maybe you find yourself in Vail while pregnant congrats! Or its as simple as hurling yourself down a mountain at high speeds just isnt your idea of a good time.

The park offers guests a range of options, including cave tours, live entertainment, dining, and amusement-park style rides.

Betty Ford Alpine Gardens
A great year-round activity is a visit to the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens. Betty Ford, wife of former U.S. President Gerald Ford, loved the Vail area and had a home in nearby Beaver Creek. With a fondness for flowers and gardening, she lent her name to the botanic gardens in 1988.
The highest elevation botanical garden in the world, which is located at more than 8,000 feet elevation, it features a collection of alpine and mountain plants and makes for a wonderfully peaceful stroll through the stone-laid paths, bridges and water features.
International Travel During Covid
Do not travel internationally until you are fully vaccinated. If you are not fully vaccinated and must travel, follow CDCs international travel recommendations for people who are not fully vaccinated.
Fully vaccinated travelers are less likely to get and spread COVID-19. However, international travel poses additional risks, and even fully vaccinated travelers might be at increased risk for getting and possibly spreading some COVID-19 variants.
The COVID-19 situation, including the spread of new or concerning variants, differs from country to country. All travelers need to pay close attention to the conditions at their destination before traveling.
CDC will update these recommendations as more people get vaccinated, as rates of COVID-19 change, and as additional scientific evidence becomes available.

Below are 15 things to do in and around Eagle, Colorado.
Have Dinner In A Cabin
If youre not going to ski, whats the next best thing? Dinner on the ski slope, of course!
For a splurge-worthy culinary experience with the best view on the mountain, head to dinner at one of the areas cabin restaurants like Game Creek. Perched at the top of one of Vails infamous Back Bowls, Game Creek offers incredible views with a memorable dining experience to go with it.
The Game Creek Cabin overlooking the Vail Back Bowls
Formerly an uber-exclusive social club, Game Creek is open for dinner by reservation only and is one of the essential things to do in Vail.
The trip up to the cabin is half the fun the evening kicks off with a ride up the gondola to the Eagles Nest viewpoint. Be sure to bring your camera this is a great place to snap those perfect golden hour sunset photos.
Next, youll ride in a snow cat typically reserved only for grooming the ski slopes to the cabin for dinner.
The winner for most unique ride to dinner is the snowcat!
While the multi-course prix-fix menu may give you some sticker shock at first, the unique, locally inspired creations plus the ambiance make it worth the splurge.
Pro tip: While reservations for most restaurants in Vail can be made upon arrival, Id recommend snagging this one well in advance as tables fill up fast. Request the first seating so youll have daylight for your ride up the mountain, and ask for a table by the window so you can catch the sunset.
