Falls Park On The Reedy River
Greenville is a city of many wonders. But perhaps the shiniest jewel in its crown is Falls Park, a 36-acre urban oasis of colorful gardens and lush green spaces. Stand on the 345-foot Liberty Bridge, the only single-suspension bridge of its kind in the Western Hemisphere, and allow yourself to be mesmerized by the Reedy River waterfall tumbling along its way.
Visit the ruins of mills that once were the lifeblood of Greenvilles economy. Bring a picnic and soak up the joyous atmosphere of the park. Admire some of Greenvilles public art displays. Take a leisurely stroll along smooth, even paths. In other words, make your Falls Park experience your own.
Take A Walking Tour Of Downtown
One of the best ways to explore a city is with a walking tour and Greenville offers plenty of them. Whether you like historical, culinary, Segway, or ghost tours, Greenville has them all. Want to do it at your own pace? Download one to your phone or tablet from GPSMyCity. The advantage of having a guide with you is that you can ask questions and find out about places to go to from a local. Safety Measures Being Taken In Greenville
I know that safety is at the forefront of many peoples minds these days. In fact, that may cause some people not to travel at all . I was really impressed with the safety measures that Greenville was taking to help ensure the safety of locals, business owners, and travelers.
Lots of protective measures right now, so travelers can rest easy if they are concerned about COVID. The tourism business REALLY needs your support right now, so please if you are considering travel, go for it. Be safe, but go for it. There are plenty of spots to eat outside, or social distance within a restaurant, so you CAN travel safely.
I hope that this guide helps you plan your own short stay in this beautiful city. Trust me, even if downtown Greenville, SC is out of your way, its worth the visit!

Have you ever thought about visiting Greenville, SC? If not, no worries! I heard many amazing things about the city over the past few years, but honestly, it was not until somewhat recently that it became a must-see for me. Greenville SC is 100% a must-see. The city of 70,000 which is tucked into the Appalachian foothills doesnt seem like an obvious destination choice to some. However, it has many charms making it worth your time in more ways than one, and this city takes full advantage of them!

Avery, myself, and Ian all had a blast and we all like different things when we travel Avery loves sleeping and seeing animals, I love eating and finding unique coffee shops, Ian loves beer, air conditioning, and copious amounts of food, and we all love seeing the real city by getting active and exploring.

Stay At Hyatt Regency Greenville
We stayed at Hyatt Regency Greenville on this visit, and I HIGHLY recommend it.
Hyatt Regency is centrally located in Downtown, with easy parking. Its in the heart of Downtown so we were close to all the shopping and restaurants, Falls Park, Reedy Rides and the Swamp Rabbit Trail.
It was just a hop and a skip to the Heritage Green, and museums thereand an easy shot out to Paris Mountain and Treetop Quest.
We stayed in the Atrium Suite with spectacular views of the hotel atrium
The Suite was large, with plenty of space for relaxing. It included a mini fridge and full dining table. This was perfect for getting a little work done
I also loved that the Suite included two full bathrooms and a separate bedroom with sofa and TV and desk for mom and dad.
The boys slept on the sleeper sofa. It was a sectional sofa, but still made out into a bed.
The Atrium Suite was probably designed for entertaining or business meetingsbut for a family staying several nights in the area it also worked perfectly! Andits more affordable than you might think.
PS Want to see a walk-thru of our room? We saved it in our IG Highlights here.
The hotel offers an outdoor pool and fitness center.
A Starbucks is within the same building, as well as Kilwins
We also dined one evening at Roost, the farm-to-table restaurant of the hotel. We enjoyed dinner, sitting on patio and watching the crowds go by as the sun fell.
A Few Additional Notes
Falls Park And Liberty Bridge
Every visitor to Greenville needs to be sure to visit the iconic Liberty Bridge that suspends over the Reedy River Falls. During the warmer months, you might even be lucky enough to catch a free outdoor movie or Shakespeare production. Dont forget to take a photo by the famous Medusa Tree, one of Greenvilles top instagrammed locations.

Find Out What A Booming Food Scene Actually Looks Like
When asked to describe the Greenville food scene in a few words, Jackie Brooker needs only one: booming. Fitting for a city with over 120 restaurants sardined into a 10-block radius near downtown. And no, its not all Southern food.
not just a place to have shrimp and grits or fried chicken. We have a diverse culinary scene driven by international businesses, says Brooker, who founded Off the Grid Greenville, an insiders guide to underrepresented small businesses in upstate South Carolina. Many of the best places are the ones run by families that established themselves in Greenville to serve their community, giving the rest of us the opportunity to dine around the world in our own backyard.
Greenville is home to buzzy, Bourdain-approved Husk BBQ, as well as James Beard-nominated chefs like Adam Cooke ofTopsoil Kitchen and Greg McPhee ofThe Anchorage. But many of Greenvilles best finds can be uncovered in no-frills spots, says Brooker. Go for standout Middle Eastern food at the cash-only, family-run Pita House, or fried chicken from the local South Carolina gas station franchise Spinx.
Tour The Campus Of Furman University
The oldest private university in South Carolina, founded in 1826, Furman University opened in its current Greenville location in 1958. Located next to Falls Park, the campus is picturesque and worth visiting. Frequently hailed as one of the most beautiful universities in the United States, visitors shouldnt miss seeing the bell tower next to the lake. The Asia-inspired gardens and elegant Georgian-inspired buildings are worth a walk-through for admirers of architecture.
