Whitehall House & Gardens Louisville Kentucky
Whitehall House & Gardens consists of a historic house and surrounding gardens on Lexington Road in Louisville. Built around 1855 by John Marshall, the first house was a two-story brick Italianate style building sitting on 20 acres of land through which Bealls Branch, a tributary of Beargrass Creek, runs.
The property changed hands several times until John and Betty Summers Middleton bought it in 1909. It was at this time the house was completely renovated to become a Southern-style Greek Revival mansion.

Falls Of The Ohio State Park
This is a state park with a variety of recreational activities. There is an interpretive center on the site with information about the fossils. There is a path that leads down to the river where there are lots of fossils exposed. We were able to observe deer and a variety of birds while taking a walk through the woods.
Birding is permitted in this area. Within walking distance is the historic Clark homesite, where there is a cabin. People were also fishing when we were there. A walk around the interpretive center provides information and a great view of the railroad bridge, dam, and locks.
Clarksville history is my favorite! It is easy to forget that 200 years ago this was the frontier. In particular, I am interested in the conflicts between native Americans and the first settlers. A visit to this park provided a window into this world.
I found the museum to be modern and filled with details about local history, such as the formation of the Ohio River, interactions between Indians and settlers, and the beginnings of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Our tour included a visit to George Rogers Clarks cabin overlooking the Ohio Falls. It was here that Lewis and Clark met before they embarked on their historic journey.

Enjoy A Culinary Masterpiece At Marcy’s Restaurant & Catering
“The rave reviews plus the suggestions from locals sent us to this out of the way, but worth a trip cafe. We used GPS to navigate here and found it in a residential neighborhood. The gent doing landscaping outside said the ribs on Friday were the best around but for Thursday, try the liver and gizzards… hmmm, I looked up gizzards and passed. Instead I had fried chicken, hot and juicy, with the best-in-the-world coleslaw and fries. Wonderful. My friend had a tenderloin sandwich, which is a misnomer. The meat was 3 times the size of the bread so he used fingers, knife and fork… making yummy noises as he went. We enjoyed the bottomless ice tea … very good, clearly homemade. We left room for pecan pie ala mode and it arrived still warm. Excellent crust too, rare on this road trip.An easy five star rating and well deserved for this gem of a local find.”
