Check Out Raymondskill Falls:
As we continued north along the 209 route, the last waterfall we were able to see before heading back home was Raymondskill Falls, which is over 100 feet tall as well:
There is a very short hiking trail to this spot as well and it loops for about half a mile, but theres 2 overlooks to this trail, one which takes you to the top of the falls, which wasnt very scenic, and a bottom one which is the area where I took this following picture.
As with the other waterfalls, access was blocked off and you could only see it from a scenic overlook, obviously because its dangerous to get close to it.
But this was also a very scenic falls and the hiking trail to this spot is very short, but a bit steep.
I was the only person who hiked down to this falls since my friends were too tired from the other things we were doing but the trail to this area is very beautiful and worth exploring.
In my case, I just wanted to see the waterfall, the picture and head back to the car.
And the trail walk, and taking the photo of this waterfall was accomplished in under 15 minutes! Of course I was dashing through the trail.
Had I walked, it would probably take me about 20-30 minutes to reach this waterfall.
Learn To Cross Country Ski Or Snowshoe At High Point State Park
Technically, High Point, the highest spot in New Jersey, is just outside of the Delaware Water Gap. At 1,800+ feet, the views of the Delaware River as it winds between New Jersey and Pennsylvania are worth the detour. High Point is a good place to learn cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. The trail system is easy to follow.
Pro Tip: It can get crowded at High Point Park. If you go on a weekday, it will be much less crowded.

I haven’t skied in almost eight years so I rented equipment and took a lesson. It was ideal for getting up and going constantly, I learned very quickly and easily with their slopes providing quality challenges. The bar area was nice enough but it’s a sort of ‘ski in ski out’ location. Don’t come for atmosphere, come to be on your feet the whole time

Coffee shops are common. Probably, you already have Starbucks, Costa Coffee, or other large coffee chains in your own city. Hence, other coffee shops might not excite you that much anymore. Even so, you still need to give Delaware Water Gaps Cafe Duet a try.

One of the most scenic drives in the Gap is along Old Mine Road. It is a small road that runs south from Milford Beach along the Delaware River for miles. It is a wonderful drive in the fall or any time of the year. There are a number of historic sights along the drive, including Millbrook Village, Walpack Center, and Minisink Dutch Reformed Church which dates to 1737.

Lets Begin With The Location Of Delaware Water Gap:
Now as you can see from the map, there is a whole green area which stretches north for about 30 miles, but the official location of the gap is in Pennsylvania . I recommend starting your trip to this spot in the southern end as shown on the map above, and working your way up like we did.
This region crosses through the Appalachian Mountains too so if you enjoy long hikes, youll find one of the longest ones in the world here.
Things To Do In Poconos Delaware Water Gap
If you are looking for a relaxing weekend getaway, away from the daily grind, the Poconos is a great place to unwind and recharge. As someone who lives and works in the city, this trip was the perfect weekend break.

Hike at the Appalachian Trail
Hiking at the Appalachian Trail is fun, exciting and beginner-friendly. The Appalachian trail has free entry and is a clearly carved out and well mapped trail that goes through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Throughout the hike youll find nice serene hidden gems that allows you a break, to take cool photos and have an opportunity to have thoughts to yourself. Its scenic and conveniently located near the middle of town. Its also walking distance to a lot of other fun sites.
Jazz Night at the Deer Head Inn
The Deer Head Inns site claims to be the oldest continuously running jazz club in the country.
It offers such a fun and intimate environment, I cant wait to go back again. Funny enough, I stumbled across this jazz club because I was looking for a late night meal. It was one of the few places still serving dinner past 10 p.m. As I entered I was met with a live jazz band playing their hearts out and a guest Australian singer who seriously did Jill Scott justice.

Explore High Point State Park:
I recently learned about this amazing park and had the chance to visit it and I highly recommend seeing it! Theres literally a days worth of activities to do in High Point State Park, and Ive included an article to a post showing that, but heres what you need to know:
High Point State Park is at the northern most tip of the Delaware Water Gap area and has the highest point in the area you can explore, which features plenty of exciting trails, a beach, and the most notable feature which is a giant tower at its highest point.
High Point State Park is actually in the New Jersey side of the Delaware Water Gap and I highly recommend exploring this park if you get the chance! In my opinion, its a great way to finish your exploration of this region.
Check Out Milford Pa:

This is a very nice town that Ive passed through numerous times and it has nice restaurants. Its a good place to end a day trip or visit it if youre hungry. This town is very scenic, and is probably the most beautiful on the route 209 path.
And that concludes the day trip I had in Delaware Water Gap and the 10 things you should consider doing if you visit too!

Check Out Bushkill Falls:
As far as I know, Bushkill Falls is one of the most popular waterfall spots in this region and I did check it out years ago when I was staying at the Pocono Mountain Villas.
This area is a scenic walk across a nature trail which is easy to go through and theres steps and walkways made for people to enjoy the falls. I dont have a picture of Bushkill falls to share on this post yet , because we decided not to visit this spot due to us being tired from the Mt. Tammany trail and we decided to stick to waterfalls that had short hikes to reach them.
Hike The Appalachian Trail
If youve always wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail or at least part of it, now is your chance! Twenty-eight miles of the 2,174-mile-long trail run through the Delaware Water Gap. There are more than 50 trails to choose from that range in various levels of difficulty. Some of the trails have amazing views of waterfalls, streams, and ponds. Dont forget to stop for a picnic to take in your surroundings!

The Delaware Water Gap Bridge
Yup, it is what it is a bridge. Its a bridge that connects several regions in the US. Maybe some might just see it as an ordinary bridge as its structure may not equal the famous Golden Gate Bridge. But dont be fooled by its simpler structure because as you cross the bridge, youd be surprised by the scenic view that youll witness.
Many people who have crossed this will tell you that its really worth the toll fee. Youd get to see a wonderful view of the river as well as the charming town that surrounds it. Everything you see from the bridge is so picturesque. But be careful, though, as the scenic view from the bridge is such a head-turner you might want to focus on the road first if youre the one whos behind the wheels.

Pro Tip: The Milford Knob hike is steep and uneven. Youll need hiking shoes and a walking stick. Bring water and insect repellent as well.
Discover The History Of Delaware Water Gap
The beginnings of the borough of Delaware Water Gap can be traced back to 1793 when Antoine Dutot founded the town and later built the area’s first inn. The arrival of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railway in 1856 heralded the first big boom in the Gap’s popularity, with passengers from New York City and Philadelphia taking the train to the mountains for a summer retreat.
The region was touted as a “Wonder of the World,” and lavish resort hotels sprung up to host the crowds of tourists. “Water Gap” became household words known all over the country, and a New York Times correspondent covered happenings in Delaware Water Gap every summer. Musicians showed their skill at local venues including Deer Head Inn, then Central House, and Shawnee Inn, with John Philip Sousa performing at the Historic Castle Inn. Theodore Roosevelt, Fred Astaire and Bette Davis were a few of the famous guests of the era.
