Lake Lanier is named after Sidney Lanier, an American poet. It was built as a measure for flood control and storing water for supplying to various areas. It has now become a tourist spot as well, providing amazing views of the lake and its numerous trails to enjoy. It is now one of Georgiaâs largest lakes and is a great place for boating. Other activities that can be enjoyed in the area are fishing, reading, or simply having fun at the beach with friends and family. The speeds and hazards on the lake are well-marked. Do note that this place is particularly busy on weekends.

If you are looking at ice skating for fun or even for learning, then this is one of the cleanest facilities in Cumming to skate. The instructors are great and patient for people wanting to learn. The ice is always very well-kept and the staff is extremely professional and well-trained. Showers are clean and tidy and they have locker rooms for safekeeping of the belongings. It is a nice little facility for hosting birthday parties and they have a snack bar in case people feel peckish after skating. This complex became operational in 2010 and since then, has been helping the people of Cumming have fun on ice!

Cumming Aquatic Centre has an outdoor pool and an indoor instructional pool and it is open all year round. The indoor instructional pool is huge with multiple swimming lanes. Height diving boards are also there for professional divers to practice. The outdoor pool is seasonal, with water slides and other activity areas for families. It is a safe place with guards and is clean and tidy for a trip with family and kids. There are family changing rooms as well as changing rooms for ladies and gents. The staff is friendly and prices are reasonable.
Cumming Aquatic Center
If it is the fish feeding activity you are looking forward to indulge in with the kids, then Buford Trout Hatchery is a great place to feed trouts of different sizes. The place is beautiful with a nice walking path and a view of the lake. It is a great place to enjoy the quiet of the woods as well.

School Street Playhouse is a restored school that serves as a playhouse and hosts some really interesting plays and music performances from local artists. It can be a great place to come with family to watch a live performance or can be enjoyed on your own, too! There is a restaurant bar right below the venue and people can satiate their appetite after enjoying the show. It is a cozy, historical playhouse, hosting a variety of performances.

Near the foothills of Sawnee Mountain lies Central Park, one of the biggest community parks in Cumming.
While its not as large as New York Citys iconic attraction, this place nevertheless covers an expansive 85 acres of land, making it the largest facility of its kind in Forsyth County.
Its more of a sports complex than a community gathering spot.
So youll see baseball and softball diamonds, two soccer fields, a lacrosse field, and eight tennis courts.

Haw Creek Park is a great park to take the kids for a fun-filled day or an evening out! The park spans around 85 acres or 34 hectares and have well shaded trails that are 3.3 miles longâan expansive space for great things to do in Cumming, Georgia. The playground and the trails are unique and very different from the rest of the playgrounds. The trails here are amazing for bike riding as well and for training young kids. This place makes a good picnic spot for the entire family. There is a skills area that is worth spending time in, too. Children can enjoy swings and the play area after their bike ride.
