Stroll Through Culpeper National Cemetery
If you love Civil War history, this is a must-see.
The Culpeper National Cemetery is a six-acre burial place located in Culpeper, VA. It was founded in 1867 and has expanded many times over the years to accommodate the needs of veterans. The cemetery was officially established through an act of congress and has been growing without restrictions since then. Several monuments can be found at the cemetery, including notable Civil War generals such as General George Meade and General Robert E Lee, among others. There are more than 7,500 people buried there since the Civil War and expansion into Virginia. The Armed Forces Monument honors the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Cedar Mountain, while the National Military Cemetery memorializes unknown soldiers from that conflict.
Burgandine House Culpeper Virginia
Burgandine House is a charming two and half story historic home built probably in the late 1700s and is the oldest private home in Culpeper, Virginia. It is a log house with gable roof, covered by clapboard on the outside. The interior is almost completely original, except a few restored areas. In 1966, Mrs. Elizabeth Burgandine Coons donated the original log house to the Town of Culpeper. The building served for several years as the headquarters for the Culpeper Historical Society. In the 1990s the Town of Culpeper restored the house to its original appearance as a reminder of the towns historic past. Burgandine House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Mountain Run Winery Culpeper Virginia
Located between Mountain Run Lake and Lake Pelham, about five minutes from downtown Culpeper, Mountain Run Winery is a small Virginia farm vineyard and winery producing a range of award-winning wines. They harvested their first grapes in 2017 and to supplement their estate vineyards they partner with Altillo Vineyards from Hurt, Virginia and three other local vineyards. The winery estate is a lovely spot for a family afternoon picnic, a walk through the lush vineyard, or to relax in one of their Adirondack chairs and watch glorious sunset. Their tasting room is located in a 120-year old corn crib next to a 100-year old horse barn. Take Photographs With The Historic Ap Hill Boyhood Home
Located in Culpeper, Culpeper County, Virginia, lies the A. P. Hill Boyhood Home.
The first portion was erected in 1820, and it was expanded to its current size in the early 1860s.
The townhouse has three stories and a five-bay by a seven-bay brick layout in the Tuscan villa style.
Seven bays were added to its depth soon before the American Civil War.
General Edward Stevens erected it in the Revolutionary War, and it was bought by A. P. Hill’s father in 1832.
In addition to the apartment, it also contained a shop. In 1862, the Hill family sold the land.
As of now, the A.P. Hill Boyhood Home is occupied by commercial establishments.
On one of the Culpeper Historic District’s walking excursions, you can get a glimpse of it outside.

Pay Respects To Fallen Heroes At Culpeper National Cemetery
Founded in 1867, Culpeper National Cemetery in Culpeper, Virginia, is a six-acre burial place.
Expanded many times in the late twentieth century.
More than 22 acres were added to the land to accommodate the needs of veterans.
About 7,500 individuals have been buried there since the Civil War and the growth of Culpeper, Virginia.
Several significant monuments may be seen at the cemetery.
Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania constructed monuments honoring the regiments whose soldiers perished during the Battle of Cedar Mountain.
Since it was built in 1992, the Armed Forces Monument has been a popular tourist attraction.
For the Civil War’s Unknown soldiers, a monument was built in 1988.
A cast-iron cannon tube was used to construct the National Military Cemetery monument.
