Theres no better way to kick off turkey day than with a parade. The Price Hill Thanksgiving Day Parade is an annual neighborhood tradition that shouldnt be missed.

The parade is held on Thanksgiving Day and starts at the intersection of Glenway Avenue and Ferguson Road. The parade ends at St. Lawrence Corner.

Expect to see marching bands, floats, local dignitaries, classic cars, groups representing various organizations and businesses throughout Cincinnati and, of course, Santa Claus.

After the parade, the festivities continue on the lawn of St. Lawrence Church and its Parish Center, where there are pictures with Santa, a performance by the St. Lawrence choir, pony rides, a petting zoo, and hot chocolate and cookies.

The parade starts at 10 a.m.

There is no admission fee for any of the activities.

The Childrens Theatre Of Mason

With the goal of presenting family-friendly performances to families with children ages 5 to 18, the theatre performs popular plays and musicals.

In addition, children have the opportunity to become involved in the theater, either as a performer, a crew member, or behind the scenes.

Performances are usually held Friday and Saturday evenings, and Saturday and Sunday afternoons at the Mason High School Theatre, 6100 Mason-Montgomery Road.

Parkland Theatre And Entertainment Center

Originally a vaudeville house before motion pictures were even invented, this historic theatre dates back to 1881, but has been restored and transformed into a movie theatre and entertainment center.

Entertainment includes custom laser light shows, live performances, family oriented entertainment, and live sporting events on the big screen.

Hours of operation vary, depending on event or show times. There are generally two movie times during the week and four on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and school vacation weeks.

Duke Energy Childrens Museum

Tons of things to do with kids of all ages await at the Duke Energy Childrens Museum. With eight exhibit areas, theres something of interest for everyone, plus lots of hands-on action.

Exhibits range from arts to science and encourage exploring, touching, climbing and crawling. Also featured each day is a schedule of childrens programs and activities.

The childrens museum is open daily except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A single museum admission pass is $10.50 for adults, $8.50 for children ages 3-12, $5.50 for toddlers ages 1-2, and Free for infants under age 1. Parking is $6 per vehicle.

Stroll Through International Friendship Park

The Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park is a beautiful riverfront park that takes guests through a series of beautiful different gardens. Named for Cincinnatis first African-American mayor, it serves as a lasting tribute to world unity and global understanding.

The grand design of the park drew its inspiration in part from a childs friendship bracelet. Two intertwining walkways guide park visitors through gardens of the continents in a perpetual celebration of international peace and friendship.

Sculptures can be found throughout the gardens along with a restroom, plenty of seating, and scenic views of the river.

Little Miami Scenic Trail

This paved recreational trail is open to walkers, cyclists, wheelchair users, and rollerbladers. Its well shaded and offers lots of interesting attractions along its 330 miles of trail.

The trail begins in Newtown and ends in Springfield. Among the areas attractions are Fort Ancient, Hartmans Rock Garden, and John Bryan State Park.

The trail, which winds through the southwestern Ohio countryside, also runs parallel to the river in some sections.

Hours are daily, dawn to dusk.

There is no admission fee.

House Party: A Celebration Of The Opening Of Site 1212

The Art Academy of Cincinnati is throwing a house party this weekend to celebrate a significant campus expansion with the unveiling of Site 1212 it’s new center for community impact and everyone is invited. Festivities happen along the 1200 block of Jackson St. in Over-the-Rhine and the former site of BarrelHouse Brewing Co. Get a sneak peek at the new space from 6-10 p.m. Friday, which features live music by Wussy Duo and receptions for the new Constance McClure exhibit Never a Day Without Drawing, as well as House Party: Reunion, an exhibition showcasing work of Art Academy alumni.

The party resumes from noon to midnight Saturday with music performances by Cincinnati Music Accelerator and Inhailer Radio, as well as a headline performance by Young Heirlooms. Fans of the former BarrelHouse Brewing co. will get to enjoy micro-crafted vanilla stout created by original BarrelHouse brewmasters Rick Debar and Brian Sprance while viewing a showcase of work by Jim Effler, the original illustrator for BarrelHouse’s bottled beer. There will also be vendors, a burlesque show, a fashion show by Lindsey Whittle, and OTR mural tours provided by ArtWorks.
