Jefferson Theater Charlottesville Va

Trump not showing any sensitivity in reaction to Charlottesville protests?

Located on East Main Street in Charlottesvilles historic Downtown Mall, the Jefferson Theater, a major Charlottesville performing venue, was originally built as a live performance venue that featured silent films and vaudeville acts. Built in 1912, it welcomed well-known entertainers like the Three Stooges and Harry Houdini.

After a major restoration, the theater reopened in 2009 with amenities like central air conditioning and heating, a refurbished balcony, two full-service bars, and other exciting features. The updated state-of-the-art light and sound systems are perfect for todays performances of bluegrass, country, hip-hop, reggae, and rock music. The theater can also be rented for meetings, lectures, parties, and weddings.

Wineries & Vineyardsnear Charlottesville

There are so many beautiful wineries along Virginias Monticello Wine Trail that its hard to choose which to visit. If youre traveling for a girls weekend, be sure that the wineries you select are near each other, so you arent driving all over Charlottesville. Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards is one of my favorites. Ive visited multiple times, and it gets prettier each time. You cant beat the beautiful landscaping, mountain views, boutique wines, and farm-to-table menu. While youre out there, check out Blenheim Vineyards, owned by Dave Matthews. This beautifully designed winery has excellent views of the vineyards and countryside. If youre up for winery hopping, Id suggest stopping by Jefferson Vineyards and Gabriele Rausse Winery.

To experience more of the Monticello Wine Trails beauty and scenic views, be sure to also visit Afton Mountain Vineyards, Barboursville Vineyards, and Stinson Vineyards.

Pick Fruit At Carter Mountain Orchard

Although its free to visit Carter Mountain Orchard, youll probably want to bring a few bucks so you can take home some delicious fresh fruit or pick your own, depending on the season. However, thats not all this orchard has to offer. Locals and tourists also head to Carter Mountain Orchard for sweeping views which are worth the trip alone. After you soak up the views, head into the country store to browse homemade treats like apple pie or award-winning wine.

Carter Mountain Orchard is especially popular in the fall which is peak apple season and when visitors can enjoy viewing the colorful fall foliage. The orchard also hosts various events throughout the year, so its also worth checking their events schedule before you go. Its up to you how much you want to spend at the orchard, but it doesnt cost a thing just to visit and take in those gorgeous views.

There are so many excellent restaurants in Cville and throughout the county. We highlight a few options below, but youll find many more in our guide: 21 Favorite Local Restaurants in Charlottesville VA.

The downtown pedestrian mall is a favorite place to eat and drink local in Charlottesville. Citizen Burger Bar is our favorite stop for excellent, locally sourced burgers and tasty fries. For a more refined atmosphere, try Brasserie Saison.

On Main Street, The Ridley serves seafood and Southern cuisine in a lovely indoor-outdoor space. The restaurant opened in 2021 in the Draftsman Hotel, next to the University of Virginia.

A short drive from the downtown mall, Mas Tapas serves excellent Spanish tapas in a sleek and busy space. A favorite casual restaurant is Ace Biscuit & Barbecue, popular for tasty ribs and their famous biscuits.

National Geographic included Crozet Pizza on their Best in World list, and we absolutely loved The Hittie, a rich pie covered in sausage, onion, and peppers.

Inn At Sugar Hollow Farm Crozet
