Dont Pass Up A Delicious Breakfast At The Hungry Haven

Target 12: Charlestown faces RI’s highest flood risk

“I hesitate to write this dinner review because once this local secret is out, there may come a time when the lines will be out the door and we won’t be able to waltz in for an early dinner without a reservation, as we do now. In this one room restaurant, the portions are generous, yet the prices are kept reasonable, and the food is always delicious. My recent Friday night meal was an appetizer of steamed little necks, and a prime rib entree with a “petite lobster casserole” side. The entree came with mashed potatoes, gravy and carrots. The price of the meal was kept down because it’s BYOB, so we brought our own bottle of wine, which the cordial waitress uncorked and served to us. But don’t expect a fancy, classy ambiance – it has a very old fashioned style. The itsy-bitsy wine glasses are like something out of the fifties or sixties. And the lights are kept brightly on throughout the dinner hours. You just have to smile and overlook these things because the food is so worth it. On a final note, I’d like to mention that from time to time, we do also like to visit during the busy breakfast hours mainly because they make the best corned beef hash we’ve ever tasted – nice and chunky. Check it out!”
