Pros are…Affordable, clean, great view, best Restaurant in town is 50 yards away from the front door, Location is away from Hub Bub from Downtown etc. & rooms are quiet. Awesome view of the Lake from our Window.Cons are…didn’t have enough towels etc, room had “smoke” smell, 2 Person Hot Tub is a glorified Bathtub , no staff are present from 8pm-9am. There’s no Breakfast & they use soap dispensers in bathroom/shower…Bring ur own Shampoo/Soap is my best advice.Tips are to reserve an upstairs room to have a better view. We loved this place, will be back. Nice & Quiet. Its a Mom & Pop Place & that makes all the cons seem Ok w/us.”

The link style course originally opened in 1995 and had fallen on hard times while operating as Fox’s Den. Rod Ashman and partners acquired the course in 2016 and have made significant improvements. The course is well on its way to again being a premier course. The course was originally designed by Jim Fazio. The holes offer varying challenges with a number of water hazards and bunkers. Four sets of tees are in play . The tees, fairways and greens were in excellent shape. The greens are large and putt true. Our group of eight have played here a couple times last and again this year. We really enjoy the course layout and the mixture of challenges provided. We definitely will be back.

From I-75, you go through farmlands to get to this place. The Shrine houses more than 1000 relics of Saints. The moment you stepped into the chapel, you can feel the embrace of the Saints. The main altar, and the walls are full with collections of relics. A serene place to meditate and pray. The relics are very well marked and numbered. There is a catalog to help you find which relic belongs to which Saint. The mosaic windows are magnificent. The gift shop is something else. You can find quite a large selection of nice items. Do not forget to visit the museum upstairs. It educates you the history of the settlement of Catholics in this area.The grounds outside is very well maintained. The little Chapel in the Woods is very cute and worth visiting. Around the Chapel in the Woods the grounds is very well maintained and has picnic tables in case you come with a group to have lunch. Children can play in the playground. The statue garden has life sized statues of Saints. A serene and holy place for everybody to enjoy and recharge.

We were greeted by Josh, and the other staff and we were taken care of right away! He paid attention to things we cared about and what we seemed to like about certain rings, and let us know we may want to consider creating our ring with the designer. We fell in love with two rings & the designer drafted up a few sketches of what our ring could look like & walked us through the process. Each time we left Harris we were on cloud 9 – so excited and giddy! The service was incredible and the overall experience is something I’ll value forever. Not only is the service amazing, but the ring is better than I could ever dream of! It’s unique and perfect, everything I wanted and more! Also– designing our ring together I was still left shocked seeing the final product and being surprised, nothing felt ruined if you were afraid of that process. We were recently in Ohio to visit the Airstream trailer factory and chanced upon a reference to the Bicycle Museum of America in nearby New Bremen. We stopped with only a half hour left before the museum closed but it’s definitely on our list for a return visit the next time we are nearby!I have to confess to being a bike enthusiast who owns 3 bikes but just rides for the sense of freedom and the scenery – I own no lycra and wouldn’t dream of racing – so I think I’m like many of you. I found this museum fascinating. You can get a sense of how the bicycle developed from its earliest beginnings to the present without being overwhelmed with technological nuances: the beautifully restored machines are left to largely speak for themselves. What commentary is offered is of a historic or sociological sort. Another reviewer has suggested that this is everything you ever wanted to know about bikes I don’t agree, although it is a beautiful and diverse collection. I didn’t see any recumbent bicycles and only one folder, for instance, and I would personally have preferred to have more technical developments explained – but that’s just me.If you are in the area, I think you’d be happy to spend at least an hour at this fine museum. A good lunch is available next door and the architecture of New Bremen’s main street is also something to see. I’d like to know more about that, too.

This is a nice, well-maintained course with a mixture of simple holes as well as more complex ones with ramps, tunnels and water features. My wife and I and our two kids and a nephew played here on a recent holiday weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the course, and blown away by the price. 5 of us played for $7 total .Service was friendly, and although it was crowded we never really felt rushed. Well definitely be back!.
Armstrong Air & Space Museum
A smalltown boy from Wapakoneta, Ohio made it all the way to the moon. Now, the hometown museum that bears his name draws visitors from all over the world. The Armstrong Air and Space Museum chronicles everything from the life of Neil Armstrong, the race to space between the USSR and the USA, and other Ohio astronauts like John Glenn.
After the opening exhibits, visitors enter the centerpiece of the museum- the dome- and watch a 25-minute video documentary on what it took for NASA to make it to the moon.
Following the video, try one of three simulators. You can attempt to land a lunar module, work in zero-gravity, or dock the Gemini capsule.
Tips for families: This is a convenient museum to visit with kids. There is a ramp in and out of the theatre so you could have a little one in a stroller. Our youngest, age 4, found things that kept her engaged. Before visiting, Id talk to kids about space and get them excited about learning more. The video documentary does share about the death of 3 astronauts prior to the Apollo 11 mission. Extra sensitive ones might find this to be anxiety-producing.

Im so glad I attended the Midwest Byways Conference and learned more about Mercer and Auglaize Counties in Western Ohio- prompting our trip! Families visiting this area will not be bored! We spent two jam-packed days in the area and could have used another.
The Bicycle Museum of America
The Bicycle Museum of America is located in downtown New Bremen, Ohio. In 1997, the owner of Crown Equipment went to Chicago and purchased the entire collection at an auction in the hope to bring it back to his hometown. The museum contains three floors of exhibits showing the history of bicycles. The collection holds the worlds first bicycle, a Draisenne from 1816. Also among the collection are military bicycles from WWII.
Newer bikes of interest are from the movie, Pee Wees Adventures and those of actor Robin Williams.
Tips for families: Interactive displays are the biggest hit among young children. Our childrens legs werent quite long enough to pedal the high wheel bike, but my husband and I had a fun attempt! On the third floor, children can help pedal a car and try a scooter. If kiddos are getting antsy, Id head straight to the 3rd floor.

Grand Lake St. Mary’s State Park is beautiful and well maintained recreation facility with cabins, boat launch and marina and campground. The campground is spacious with lots of space between campsites. The bath houses are first class. While visiting the park, bad weather moved into the area. The park ranger and staff notified all guests of the potential tornado conditions and instructed us on where to seek shelter. The new bath facilities are cast concrete structures and provide safety in the event of a storm. We felt safer at the park than if we had been at home. We highly recommend Grand Lakes as a recreation destination. Shopping facilities are close by in St. Mary’s or Celina, OH.

If you enjoy beautiful churches this is a must see if you’re close to Celina, OH. It has been beautifully restores. It was erected in 1903. It still has the ornate altars and statues and beautiful stained glass. We were there for a First Communion and enjoyed a vibrant church community and wonderful engaging homily.

“Food is good. Service is solid. Serving sizes are fantastic. It’s not a huge place, but it’s a nice one. Absolutely amazing atmosphere. The waiters are in period clothes. I was surprised by the music because it’s some of the rock songs that I grew up converted to 1920s music. I don’t know how they did it, or where they found it but whoever did it did a decent job there. It adds an interesting flavor to the ambience.When I saw the name I initially thought it was related to speakeasy ramen in Springfield , however it seems to be unrelated.The butter for the bread is soft. It’s not frozen, or cheap. It’s like they thought about what would make a good experience, and they did it.My daughter says she really enjoyed her steak kebab. This bread, she says, she cannot taste the bag on it, and she thinks it is made here. My daughter can taste the plastic that many things are wrapped in so not having that taste is a good thing.If I lived in this area then I would consider taking my sweetie here for a fun lunch or dinner date. It’s a nice little spot.”
