Prospect Park Brooklyn Ny
Designed by Olmsted and Vaux of Central Park fame, and made up of magnificent sweeps of broad lawns and grand vistas, Prospect Parks Long Meadow is the longest unbroken swathe of green space in New York. Aiming to create spaces where people could escape the city and crowds, Olmsteds park boasts a number of notable features, such as Stanford Whites colonnaded Croquet Shelter, and the pools and weeping willows of of the Vale of Cashmere.
The Music Grove bandstand shows Japanese influences and hosts both jazz and classical music concerts throughout the summer. The park has a wide variety of landscapes, from classical gardens dotted with statues to rocky glens with running brooks. A favorite feature of the park is the Camperdown Elm, an ancient and twisted tree planted in 1872, which has inspired many poems and paintings.
There are a myriad of activities to enjoy in the park, from baseball and birdwatching to skating and nature programs.

Youll bite into a juicy hamburger with sweet fried pineapple, an egg sunny side up and pickled beets. Give your taste buds a minute to process the intensely delicious flavors.

Greenwood Park If you want to soak up some sun and some beer on a beautiful afternoon, then Greenwood Park is the place to be. Located in Park Slope, Greenwood Park is a 13,000 square foot beer garden with, wait for it, 60 beers on tap. You can even challenge each other to a game of bocce ball, a New York staple amongst the older generations. And if you like to dance theyve got a DJ playing the hits at night.
Explore Prospect Park Its hard to believe but theres a 585 acre getaway right in the middle of Brooklyn. Prospect Park is the ultimate place to throw a blanket down and cuddle up with your date. Bring some wine and cheese with you while youre at it because its all too easy to hang out in the main meadow until the sun goes down. And if youre feeling extra cheesy you can rent a pedal boat to get some alone time on the lake. If youre here over the summer then make sure to head to the Bandshell for their concert series. Brooklyn Botanic Garden Take your date to stop and smell the rosesliterally! Watch the leaves change, check out the Shinto Shrine, or take a workshop on soil management or even beginners Tai-Chi. This is a great getaway from the city and into some serenity. One of the best places to check out in Downtown Brooklyn is the New York Transit Museum.
Its located underground, in a former subway station.
Visitors are fascinated by the displays of New York transit vehicles from the not-so-recent-past.
Although this station is no longer in use, its been given considerable respect that makes it a wonderful museum spot.
You can see discontinued subway cars, trolleys, buses and more.
If it wasnt for your smartphone, you might forget what time period youre in.
Transit has made NYC what it is today, and even if the vehicles seen at this museum are no longer in use, their legacy must always be respected.
This museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, ages two to 17, and seniors, ages 62 and up.

The Brooklyn Flea has grown into one of New York Citys top attractions and should not be missed.
