You can not end your Brigantine vacation without checking out the Absecon Lighthouse in South Rhode Island Ave and taking souvenir pictures of it or with it. For the record, this remarkable landmark is the tallest lighthouse in all of New Jersey. A journey to the top of the lighthouse will take you 228 steps but guaranteed, it is all worth it when you see the spectacular panoramic views from above. Inside the lighthouse, there is a fascinating museum that houses old photographs and some artifacts that are relevant to the citys history. Also, it has a gift shop where you can purchase some souvenir items.

The Brigantine Beach Historical Society was formed to preserve the Islands past. Through their efforts and the efforts of Brigantines town historian, Howard Fritz Haneman, the Brigantine Historical Museum opened in 1992 and is located adjacent to the Marine Mammal Stranding Center.
