For a taste of what Boulder was like in the early days, head 30 minutes west of Boulder to the funky mountain town of Nederland. Made famous in recent years thanks to its Frozen Dead Guy Days winter fest, Ned is a great spot to visit any time of year for nature walks along the creek, organic eats at theMountain Peoples Co-Op, and, of course, a visit to the oddball Carousel of Happiness. This was the biggest surprise of the trip. I heard about the free tastings and tours, but since Im not much of a tea drinker, I never thought to stop in. This time we did and Im so glad! As soon as you enter the property and drive toward the Celestial Seasonings Tea factory, you can start to smell the tea. First, we went into the tasting room and they had at least eight flavors, both hot and cold, available for tasting. I even discovered a flavor that I loved and bought some in the gift shop on the way out.

Where To Stay With Kids In Boulder

If youre looking for vacation rentals like Airbnb and VRBO, I would highly recommend finding a place close to Pearl Street Mall, since that is where all the restaurants and entertainment is. Mapleton Hill and Newlands are nice, quiet neighborhoods that are just north of Pearl Street Mall. Anything south of Pearl Street Mall is mostly University housing and residences, so unless youre looking to stay in a frat house, I would probably recommend staying North of Pearl Street Mall.

If youre interested in hotels in Boulder, St Julian is a fairly upscale, locally owned hotel in a wonderful location. You could also try Chautauqua Cottages, located right at Chautauqua Park.

You could also look at Louisville, Lafayette or Superior, all extremely family friendly towns that are just 10 minutes outside of Boulder. There might be cheaper accomodation there, but you will need to drive into Boulder if you decide to stay in one of these locations.
