Visit Boston Common & Public Gardens

The Boston Common, one of the oldest public spaces in the nation, has a skating rink in winter. It is one of the most popular night attractions in Boston. Created in 1634, it consists of 50 acres of green space. Its part of the Emerald Necklace of parks in Boston. It was once owned by William Blaxton, the first European settler in Boston. The Commons were also used as a British Camp during the Revolutionary War. The Boston Common and Public Gardens, which is next to the Commons, are both listed on the National Landmark Registry. The garden, located in downtown Boston, became the first public botanical garden in 1837 and has a lagoon, ponds, and swan boats . You can enjoy watching a graceful pair of swans during spring and summer, and if you visit in May, you may just see the parade that welcomes the pair back to the garden.

The Public Gardens is home to 80 species of plants and flowers planted twice each year, and around 750 varieties of trees and shrubs. There are also street performers in the area to watch. Monuments are on the Arlington Street-side of the park, providing a bit of history. Beacon Hill borders the park. The bronze statue Make Way for The Ducklings, from a popular childrens book by Robert McCloskey, is located in the park. If you dont know where to go in Boston at night, this is a good choice.

Although there are multiple parks throughout the city, the Boston Public Garden and the Boston Common boast beautiful sights day and night. Well-lit, you won’t feel unsafe while strolling past weeping willow trees, ponds, and gorgeous foliage. Of course, we recommend bringing company with you for safety reasons.

The oldest public garden in the U.S., the Boston Public Garden was established in 1837 and presents many lovely meandering walkways, species of flowers and plants, and bird species that populate the area. During the day, guests can ride the Swan Boats, picnic, play sports, and more. At night, this downtown park is best for sightseeing.

Founded in 1634, Boston Common serves as an incredibly historic site with ties to the Revolutionary War, anti-Vietnam War rallies, civil rights rallies, and much more. Now owned by a nonprofit organization, the park contains beautiful walkways, fountains, statues, and play areas. Further, many families go ice-skating in the Frog Pond each year.

The Seaport area has enjoyed significant development in recent years. We always recommend stopping by the Lawn on D to play in Boston’s community ‘backyard’. This park and playground oasis for children and adults is just a short walk from the seaport area, over near the Boston convention center.

Well known for their giant circular swings , visitors are welcome to come play popular backyard games like cornhole, ping pong, bocce, Jenga and more, while listening to live music and enjoying the outdoors.

One of our favorite things to do is to visit the Rose Kennedy Greenway – one of the most welcome results of the famous post-Big-Dig transformation.

Theres always something wonderful to enjoy from the open green spaces, artisans markets, well-manicured gardens, revolving art installations, splash fountains, coloful murals, food trucks and of course the Greenway Carousel This one-of-a-kind carousel features uniquely designed animals native to Boston, and its a terrific photo op.

Quincy Market is right across the street. Quincy Market is great destination for shopping, grabbing a drink or a snack, people watching, and of course enjoying a an entertaining busker performance.

Dedicated to the tragically brief life of John F. Kennedy, this museum and library depicts the famous mans leadership and legacy, while at the same time illustrating the nature of a Presidents office.

The beautiful building was constructed to overlook the Presidents beloved Boston, offering a wonderful view of the city skyline as well as an outdoor walkway along the Dorchester Bay.

The museum is full of fascinating artifacts, photos and videos which also include interesting items such as a number of his spouse Jackies dresses.

Watch The Boston Bruins Practice At Warrior Ice Arena

If you want to see the Bs play but dont want to spring for the pricey tickets, or if you just want to get a fresh perspective on watching this powerhouse team, then head to Warrior Ice Arena at Boston Landing to catch a practice. The Bruins practices are open to the public and their schedule is posted on the Warrior Ice Arena website. Its crazy how close you can get to the players, for FREE. Its a lot of fun watching them joke around with each other and have some fun at practice.

Boston Harbor Ice Sculpture Stroll

Wind your way along the waterfront through the trail of ice sculptures this New Years Eve. Get ready to count down to 2022 with over a dozen ice sculptures hosted by businesses and cultural sites across the waterfront.

Be sure to enjoy other waterfront sites and activities along the way such as, a virtual scavenger hunt, the Holiday Lights on the Trellis at Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park, and Snowport, the Seaports Winter Village.

Enjoy A View Of Boston

There are several great places to get a good look at the skyline of Chicago.

One of the most historic locations is the Bunker Hill Monument, which is a 221 ft tall obelisk that you can climb to the top.

You’ll need a pass to do this, but they are free! Just go to the Bunker Hill Museum and ask for a pass.

If you’re willing to go a bit out of the way, consider a trip to Mount Auburn Cemetery in West Cambridge for almost unbeatable views of the city skyline.

Another option is at Piers Park in East Boston. While you won’t get a view from above, it is one of the best places to see the skyline from below.

Watch The Head Of The Charles Regatta

After taking 2020 off due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual Head of the Charles Regatta will return to the Charles River from Oct. 22-24 with an additional two hours of racing on Friday. Visitors will be able to find great viewing spots along both sides of the river, and can enjoy food and drink at multiple venues including FALS Bar, a new spot with a viewing area, and beer garden located near the awards tent. Go On An Evening Cruise

With the weather warming up, March could be a wonderful time to go on an evening cruise in Boston.

There are several different companies that offer sunset cruises on the harbor, allowing you to see the city skyline as the sun goes down.

You can also go on a dinner cruise and enjoy a night on the water with your significant other while you dine with some of the best views of the city.
