Go Back To Nature And Explore Ledges State Park

“I loved my trip to Ledges State Park!!!!!!!! The roads are clearly marked on the map you get from the website, which means you can easily find where you want to go! First, we hiked to go find Lost Lake. Now, I thought it was going to be a big mysterious adventure where you hiked to find lost lake and it really was lost and you walked away with a sense of wonder, I had fully bought my friend into my conspiracy, had told every trail person on the way, but what do you know…. Lost Lake is REAL and it is GROSS: I wish it had stayed lost. They lost it for a reason and the reason is smelly green algae. DO NOT go finding Lost Lake. Instead, go to Inspiration Point and become one with a butterfly and remark on how phenomenal Iowa is!! After that, head over to the other side of the park where you can go play in the river!!!!!!! The road was closed because it was flooded but that was fine with me because I like to walk and it meant we could play in the flooded road. A win win if you ask me. Lastly, we sat down and had a happy picnic and a clean table under a nice pavilion. All in all, a perfect day spent at the state park!!”

Hickory Ridge Living History Museum

The mountains of North Carolina are rich in history. The Cherokee Indians, Daniel Boone, and other early explorers and settlers are an important part of the history of the area. At the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum you can learn what life was like in the 1700s as the young country was formed and expanded. The museum is located next to the site of the Horn in the West and consists of several original period cabins.

The oldest, the Tatum Cabin, is dated from around the time of the American Revolution and was originally located in Todd, North Carolina. The Coffey House dates to the early 1800s. There is a WPA cabin built in the 1930s, as was the cabin that is used today as a tavern. The museum staff are volunteers dressed in period clothing who provide the stories about the cabins and showcase the lifestyle of the early settlers. They also offer demonstrations of some of settlers skills, such as spinning, weaving, blacksmithing, tomahawk throwing, candle dipping, basket weaving, and shooting black-powder guns.

Coyote Kitchen Boone North Carolina

Weird and Wonderful Things to Do in Iowa

Coyote Kitchen is lively, brightly colored Caribbean restaurant located in an uninspiring location near the Walmart shopping plaza in Boone. The place is colorful and relaxed, with vivid murals on the walls and lots of local art everywhere. While they advertise their cuisine as Southwest Caribbean Soulfood, it does not really belong to any national cuisine and contains something from all of them.

They really care about what goes into their dishes, and even those not advertised for special diets are full of fresh produce and bursting with flavors, textures, and colors. Try their bowls, a wonderful blend of fish, meats, veggies, and spices that make a full meal. Check out the Saguaro, which has blackened salmon, black beans, coconut rice, fried sweet potatoes, sautéed spinach, squash, zucchini, roasted red peppers, sour cream and scallions. They have a great selection of soft drinks and some excellent local micro brews.

Window Shop At Rieman Music

“We have been a customer with Rieman Music for a number of years as our kids explored being members of their school band. Most recently, the staff at the Urbandale store helped us clean and repair our Yamaha Clavinova. They were friendly, fair in pricing and gave unexpectedly speedy service. Ron and his staff explained the process and were upfront with timing and pricing. He even made sure that we got our unit delivered back to Ames. We have had similar good experiences with the Ames location. We will definitely return to Rieman Music and would recommend to the store to others.”

Get Cultured At Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum

“Me and my girlfriend went on the dinner train this weekend. We got to see so much cool scenery, and the general atmosphere was just fantastic. The food was really good, our server was very friendly, and the dessert was to die for. Standing on the back of the train car was really neat, and we were out there when we went over both bridges! This was definitely special and a night I doubt we’ll forget for a long time. If you have the time and a few extra dollars to spend, take the dinner train, or even one of the excursions. The crew will be more than happy to talk about the history of the line and the train if you’re interested. Definitely worth the price of admission, and then some!”

What are people saying about things to do near Boone, IA 50036?

This is a review for things to do near Boone, IA 50036:

“Day 2 of being opened. We had a great time on this tour. Each car has a motor that engages on the trip back to the station. It’s about a 5,5 mile tour in each direction. There’s a short break in between as they turn the cars around. Bring a cooler with water and snacks and don’t forget the sunscreen. It’s about 2 hours from start to finish. Note, if on the way back you are working harder to move your car on the tracks, your motor may not be engaged. Happened to us but we didn’t mind because we were getting a decent workout. Once engaged, it moved with little effort. Highly recommend for all ages!!”
