Things To Do In Bellevue This Weekend

Spend The Afternoon At Meydenbauer Beach Park

The Nutcracker in Bellevue | Shopping for Stocking Stuffers and An Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

The Meydenbauer Beach Park is not only a hidden gem of natural space in Bellevue, it also serves as a significant point in the city’s history. Located on Meydenbauer Bay, on the shores of Lake Washington , this area was once the landing site for ferries running from Seattle. This historic ferry spot was pivotal in the development of Bellevue.

Nowadays, the Meydenbauer Beach Park is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. It provides a place for locals and tourists to get some sand between their toes or spread out the blanket for a picnic. Meydenbauer Beach Park is also a popular place to swim in the summer months when the water is warm enough and lifeguards are on duty.

The park is beautifully landscaped, with a tiered walkway that leads down to the water. Here, a modern playground entices younger members of the family. The park also has a unique walkway that leads out to the middle of Meydenbauer Bay, presenting a panoramic view of Lake Washington.

Molly Moons Ice Cream

Located right across from the Bellevue Downtown Park, Molly Moons Ice Cream really focuses on being local they emphasize sustainability and giving back.

A large majority of their ingredients are actually sourced from farmers in the community throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Wholesome local milk and cream, sweet wild golden honey from the foothills of the Olympics, and perfectly ripened organic fruit grown nearby are just a few of the ingredients we use daily

I had a scoop of their sweet cream and Harrison opted for cookie dough, which had an added cinnamon twist.

Romantic Things To Do In Bellevue

Bellevue just 10 miles east of Seattle, and the fifth largest city in Washington state, remains one of my favorite places to escape for a little does of luxury. Fine dining, high-end shopping, boutique pastry shops and gorgeous gardens all contribute to Bellevue being one of the most romantic spots in the PNW.

A few weeks ago on our Date Weekend, my husband and I explored the dreamy side of Bellevue, the citys name stemming from the French term Beautiful View. It was nothing short of romantic whimsy and the best way to celebrate this time in our lives being married for 8 years, raising two beautiful daughters and appreciating the path that brought us here. Sometimes as parents we forget to honor this gift of partnershipand we need days like these.

Hot Air Ballooning With Seattle Ballooning

Distance from Bellevue: 27 miles, 40 minutes

One of the most incredible views you can get of the Pacific Northwest is via hot air balloon, hands down!

We experienced our first-ever hot air balloon ride with Seattle Ballooning, and it was beyond magical.

Eliav Cohen, the owner of Seattle Ballooning, flew us in one of three hot air balloons that went up that day.

For our trip, we met at Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn, WA at 5am.

From there, Eliav and his team drove all of the ballooners out to the designated take off point .

On the way, Eliav told us a lot of fun stories about the history of hot air ballooning. My favorite story:

A hot air balloon aeronaut was late to a meeting with his friend. When he arrived, his friend asked him, why didnt you check your pocket watch? He explained that he needed both hands for flying the balloon, to which his friend replied, well then, Ill put your pocket watch on your wrist! And so, Cartier created the very first wrist watch!

After we reached the designated spot, Eliav and crew blew up the three balloons and off we went!

We reached an altitude of about 4,600 feet and were in the air for over an hour!

Once we landed, there was a celebratory feast of chocolate croissants and champagne waiting for us.

I highly, highly recommend this experience!
