Things To Do In Beaver Creek In The Summer

Older Kids Ebike Tours In The Vail Valley

Explore Colorado Family Fun in Beaver Creek

This is a new activity that starts in Edwards. You can take an eBike tour with eBike rental & helmets included. We did this yesterday and opted for the dirt road route which was very challenging. What Colorado thinks of dirt roads are different than your average Texas dirt road. It was much more mountain biking than barely pedaling on flat surfaces. It was a really fun experience. Next time, we would opt for something easier and more paved! But any level or type of eBike tour is available, but kids need to be 15 to participate because the bikes are extremely heavy and they need to be able to fit an adult size eBike.

Alrighty, that was way more than 10, but you get the picture that summer in Vail Colorado and the surrounding area is great for families. And I didnt even mention the food.

Oh the food!

Most of the amazing restaurants will have outdoor patios which are just lovely this time of year.

Get to Vail and have some fun!

Beaver Creek Ski School

Regardless of your skill level, ski school is always a good idea. The ski school at Beaver Creek claims to be the Ivy League of ski schools, so if youre a first-time skier youve come to the right place

A lesson is a great way to brush up on your skills, build confidence on the slopes and learn some inside tips on both the mountain and the area.

The icing on the cake? When you buy two days of ski school, you get a third day for free.

Vail and Beaver Creek takes a little under 2 hours to drive from Denver. There is the Eagle-Vail airport in the Vail Valley that is pretty small, but works great if you can find a flight in that is a good fit. There are tons of places to stay from hotels, airB2B and other rentals. Summer doesnt see the traffic that winter does so prices are lower.

Summer In Beaver Creek

I am planning a vacation for late August/early Sept. We have a 10 yr. old. We would like to raft, bike, horseback ride, swim, alpine slide, hike. We are leaning toward Beaver Creek, at the BC Lodge . Would anyone recommend a different place? Based on our interests, is Vail a better fit? Thanks in advance.

Stayed at Hyatt Beaver Creek-one of best places-top spa on premises-probably good pool-was winter-my son was about 10 when we went-he loved!

I believe you would enjoy the amenities and especially the pool much more at the Park Hyatt . The BC lodge is on the creek, though, and that’s a very soothing view and sound. Vail has a mountain top area called Adventure Ridge that you take the Lionshead Gondola up to. Tickets can be purchased at the base for activities like laser tag, basketball, volleyball, ice skating, etc. Gondola is free after 5:00 p.m. . If you want the alpine slide, that is in Breckenridge, which is about a 45 minute drive. For horsebackriding, I would recommend 4 Eagle Ranch, just north of Wolcott Or, for the family, a drive up to Piney Lake in Vail is adventurous, and there is a beautiful lake with paddle boats, teepees, crafts, horsebackriding, hiking, etc. I personally think the BC stables is overrated.

You will enjoy Beaver Creek because it is beautiful, family friendly, and there are so many wonderful things to do there. You can always take a short ride to check out the top of Vail, but stay in Beaver Creek if you want the best!

When To Go To Beaver Creek

Beaver Creek Ski Resort opens for the season in mid-November and runs until the middle of April.

Naturally, the holidays are the busiest time on the mountain. While Christmas and New Years are pure magic, expect more crowds than usual But even then, Beaver Creek is less congested than most resorts in the area.

Immediately following the New Year, theres often an influx of visitors from South America there to kick off their summer holiday break. In the same tune, mid-March through early April can be quite busy with families traveling for their kids spring breaks.

A bluebird day at Beaver Creek

My advice: For your best shot at great snow and low-season crowds, aim for January and February, baring MLK Day and Presidents Day.

But theres a saying among the locals: Youll come here for the winters, but youll stay for the summers.

While we have yet to experience the Rocky Mountains in the summer, were already plotting a trip back. Picture low humidity, cool temperatures, and all the outdoor activities your little heart can desire.

While you can certainly enjoy lots of the things Vail has to offer without breaking the bank, theres no doubt that this is a fancy resort town. So if you want to indulge in an extravagant meal, youll find plenty of options that are worth treating yourself.

Sweet Basil is a swanky hot spot serving modern American cuisine and wonderful cocktails. If you can get a table, go with the Colorado lamb or the trout. And if you cant get a reservation, try downstairs at Mountain Standard for more rustic tavern fare.

Whitewater Raft The Colorado River

There are lots of family-friendly rafting options that everyone can enjoy. Our favorite is a 1/2 day rafting tour of the Shoshone area of the river that includes Class I, II and III rapids followed by a catered lunch on the banks of the river. There is plenty to see and learning to paddle as a team is always an adventure. Everyone will get a little wet, but it feels good in the Colorado sunshine. We have taken the Timberline Tours trip twice now and recommend it.
