Head To A Hawks Game At State Farm Arena

TOP 10: Things To Do In Atlanta

Catch some of the nations best pro basketballers at State Farm Arena, home to the citys cherished Atlanta Hawks.

Even if your visit doesnt coincide with the NBA season, you can still watch a preseason game or, at the very least, a concert.

Unlike some cities main stadiums, State Farm Arena is smack-bang in the city center in the Centennial Olympic Park area, making transit to and from events a breeze.

Walk Around Centennial Olympic Park

Built by the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games in time for the 1996 Olympics, this 22-acre park nestled in the heart of the city has been a crowd favorite for decades.

The public park puts on free concerts once a week, while also offering memorials, plenty of fields and seating for relaxing, and amazing views of the city.

After strolling through the park, head to the World of Coca-Cola, the CNN building, or the Skyview Ferris wheel all of which are within walking distance.

Sit Down For A Show At Fox Theatre

Proudly renowned as one of Atlantas premier venues for live entertainment, the 4,665-seat Fox Theatre has been hosting a variety of all-star acts for decades, including rock concerts, Broadway musicals, ballet recitals, comedy shows, and movie screenings.

Remarkably, the venues inaugural movie screening took place in 1929, with none other than Steamboat Willie, Walt Disneys debut cartoon, lighting up the screen.

Piedmont Park is Atlantas huge green space in the city! This beautiful park is comparable to New Yorks Central Park, as the place is always a hub of peaceful activity! One of the best romantic things to do in Atlanta has got to be enjoying a slow picnic in this natural oasis.

Not going to lie, Buckhead will make you wish you had more money!

Even still, I would recommend going for a drive in Buckhead as it is one of the prettiest neighborhoods in Atlanta with some of the most beautiful and grand houses I have ever seen.

Buckhead is known as the Beverly Hills of the Eastand if you take a drive through the neighborhood and in particular West Paces Ferry Road NW you will understand why.

Dont miss the beautiful Governors mansion along the road. There are free tours of this mansion every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 10 11.30am.

Stroll Through The Atlanta Botanical Garden

The Atlanta Botanical Garden offers a lovely space with a variety of well laid out gardens, including formal flower beds and majestic trees that frame the urban landscape of Midtown Atlanta. The Botanical Garden is a great place year-round, with something always in bloom.

Spring is, of course, an amazing time with a riot of colors. Some of the highlights include the Orchid Display House in the Fuqua Orchid Center, the Winter Garden, the Japanese Garden, the Conservation Garden, and the Desert House. Two of its major specialties are the Rose Garden and the hydrangeas, each of which comprise the largest collections in the southeast.

A special garden area is designed for children, and an elevated boardwalk gives visitors tree-top views down into the forest, another popular activity for families. What you will see there depends on the time of year you are visiting, although the indoor gardens are always beautiful at any time of year.
