The location has an interesting past, as the course is laid out on what was a Nike Missile Base in the wake of WWII.

The River Trail Nature Center has onsite nature educators, free exhibits, and many walking trails. The nature center has both outdoor and indoor play areas for kids, and guided hikes for all ages. There are three unpaved walking trails that follow along the Des Plaines River and meander through over a dozen forest preserves.
The River Trail Nature Center is located at 3120 Milwaukee Avenue, in Northbrook, east of Arlington Heights. The River Trail Park is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the warmer months of March through October, and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the cooler months of November through February. We brought my oldest grandson to The Ballpark in Mount Prospect to work on his batting skills for the baseball season. They offer several different configurations of batting cages and for simple batting practice with your star child or grandchild, you can work with them through buckets of balls from machines that can be set for different speeds. They offer clinics on a regular basis, as well as specials via e-mail. The staff was excellent and is always helpful and attentive to the needs of the kids, pre-teens, teens & adults practicing. We enrolled my oldest grandson in some private lessons and his coach Ron Cacini, was very helpful to his batting skills.

Get out of the house and enjoy a meal outdoors at Arlington Alfresco!
The outdoor dining program held in the downtown on Vail and Campbell as well as in private parking lots of area restaurants, started last year during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to help small businesses expand their outdoor seating.
The program, which allows restaurants to extend outdoor seating into the right-of-way in the downtown or in parking lots of other restaurants, started in June and was originally slated to end on Labor Day.
The street dining area in the Downtown could last until November. There is also discussion of ending it in September to hold a fall weekend festival, if COVID-19 restrictions allow.
For those preferring to use curbside pickup for dining or shopping, there will be designated areas at the entrances of Arlington Alfresco, on the first floor of the Vail Garage and in a nearby parking lot. Delivery services for businesses and residents living within the zone will also have designated areas. Several changes have been made to allow for 2-hour parking in Lot E, along Davis Street, and on the first floor of the Vail Garage. ADA parking spaces have also been located near each of the four entrances to Arlington Alfresco.
