Park City Winter Guide: Where To Ski In Park City

Park City Mountain Resort

Ready for one of the best ski trips of your life? Fun fact: Park City Mountain is the largest ski resort in the United States, known for its world class skiing and diverse terrain. Its also located immediately within the town of Park City. It actually used to be two ski resorts , but they merged back in 2015. There are over 43 lifts and over 330 trails, plus you can even ski-in directly from the mountain to parts of Park Citys Historic Main Street, which I find to be pretty awesome.

Just keep in mind this mountain is massive! I highly recommend picking one side and sticking to it. Especially if youre on a friend trip or family getaway. Traversing from one side to the other can take a bit of time. The Park City side has some of the easier runs for beginners and intermediates , while the Canyon side has a bit more difficult runs. See what I mean in the trail map here.

Luckily this mountain is great for skiing and snowboarding and has runs for all skill levels. To get to the mountain, all you need to do is pop on the public transit bus. Most hotels and Airbnbs will let you know where your stop is located. I think this is the most efficient way to get around Park City Mountain.

A one-day adult lift ticket will cost you about $165 depending on the weekend and month and many people opt to use the Epic Ski Pass in Park City. Note that the park is typically open from November April, 9 am 4 pm.

No Name Saloon Best For A Fun Atmosphere

Located in a historic building on Main Street that used to house the local phone company back in the day, the No Name Saloons motto is Helping People Forget Their Names Since 1903. I love the no-frills and relaxed vibe of No Name Saloon. The walls are cluttered with paraphernalia from the old local rugby team, taxidermy, and even old sleds. Try to snag a table by the wood-burning fireplace, or the heated rooftop patio.

What to Order? Youll find a huge selection of craft beers and whiskeys!

Important Tips For Visiting The Ice Castles

  • Book your tickets EARLY! Tickets are known to sell out weeks in advance with the weekends being the most popular. You can subscribe to the Ice Castle email list to be notified when ticket sales open.
  • Try to book your time slot an hour before sunset. That way you can get enough daylight for photos, but you can still enjoy the Ice Castles at night when all the lights turn on. Plan to spend around 1-2 hours.
  • Think about what youre going to wear in advance. All the bathrooms are located outside, and if you want to change clothes its going to be difficult. The best colors that pop for photos are bright red, or light pink, or blue that looks beautiful as well.

Purchase tickets and see opening dates on their website here.

Woodward Park City at Gorgoza Park is the premier place to ride a tube in Park City. They provide all the equipment to ride down the ten groomed tubing runs.

The tow service means you wont have to lug your snow tube back up the mountain between runs. The onsite playground is popular with the kids, too, and there is a yurt serving hot chocolate and snacks.

If youre looking for free sledding hills, youll find one behind the Tanger Outlet Mall. Youll also find one at the Overland Trailhead. The nordic skiing center at Mountain Dell is also popular with locals. An incline next to the golf clubhouse is great for putting down a sled.
