The Boston Tea Party was one of the most important events in American history, and even though it took place more than 200 years ago, the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum is an excellent place to visit even for people who aren’t very interested in museums. After being given a role card, visitors are invited to step aboard replica ships, where they’ll participate in an interactive drama featuring a talented cast of actors. Before leaving, stop by Abigail’s Tea Room to enjoy a cup of one of the same tea varieties that were unceremoniously dumped into the harbor in 1773.

Museum of Modern Renaissance
The Museum of Modern Renaissance is situated in Massachusetts Somerville, on a humble residential street.
It was once a masonic lodge and has been turned into a Temple of Art as a labor of love by Russian artists Nicholas Shaplyko and Ekaterina Sorokina.
Since its 2002 makeover, the Museum of Modern Renaissance is a lovely and whimsical space designed to resemble an Incan ruin from the front.
The insides ceilings and walls are filled with paintings of mythological and fresco-like nature in a style that the artists refer to as Mystical Realism.
Tours of the Museum of Modern Renaissance are hard to come by and have to be booked in advance, so plan in advance if you want to add this to your list of places to visit in Massachusetts.

The mission of the Jenney Museum is to bring the story of the Pilgrims to life to visitors from all over the world, the country, and the local community. Tours are given of the original site of Plimoth Plantation, the historic district, as well as the National Monument to the Forefathers.

Another Bike Ride Loop
For another loop from the Bookmill, start north on Greenfield Road, turn left on Meadow Street. Then turn right on S. Ferry Road and cross the Sawmill River. Jog left on Wills Ferry Road and then the next right on Old Greenfield Road. The quintessential scenery of old farms will take you all the way to where Old Greenfield joins Greenfield Road. Now the fun begins where you get a road all to yourself. With the Greenfield bridge no longer traffic worthy, bicycle riders get a free pass to the other side of the railroad tracks. Stop to admire the colorful house with dragons and a damsel in distress in the cupula.
Next, head down Hatchery Road for a visit to the Bitzer Hatchery. Descend the long hill to reach the hatchery where you can marvel at trout at every stage of growth. The trout will make anglers across Massachusetts happy when they show up in the stocked waterways of the state.
Once you have your fill of trout, head back up the hill and turn right on Turners Falls Road to get back to the Bookmill. Finish this 6.5-mile ride with Bookmill bookstore ambiance and a treat beside the waterfall from the Lady Killigrew cafe. Join the two loops for a scenic 13-mile figure-eight ride.

The first MFA was opened on July 4, 1876, in Copley Square, when it was home to 5,600 works of art. In 1909, the MFA moved to Huntington Avenue and is currently one of the most significant art museums in the world. Its collection contains almost 500,000 pieces of art and the museum welcomes over one million visitors annually. The collection features everything from ancient Egyptian to contemporary art as well as special exhibitions and innovative educational programs.

The House Of The Seven Gables
Count the number of gables at this beautiful seaside colonial mansion on Salem Harbor to see why it is called the House of the Seven Gables. But the homes unique architecture is only the beginning of what draws visitors here to make it one of the popular things to see in Massachusetts.

Special arrangements can be made for such group tours by contacting the inn. The final tour of the day begins promptly at 3 pm. Photos may be taken in the house but video recording is not allowed without prior consent. Guest staying here receive a complimentary tour of the house, which is more extensive and lasts about an hour and a half.

Great author and poet Edgar Allen Poe was born in 1809 in Massachusetts, but his home was sadly demolished along with its street several decades ago as part of an urban development project.
200 years after he was born, a small plaza right across the street from that was renamed Edgar Allan Poe Square.
Since its creation in 2009, Edgar Allan Poe Square has lived at Charles and Boylston streets intersection, been marked by a sign and a statue of Poe adorned with symbols from his poetry.
